Role Description
The Grant Specialist is a full-time role responsible for identifying, securing, and managing funding opportunities to support Relate Africa’s mental health programs. This hybrid position is based in Nigeria, with a mix of on-site collaboration and work-from-home flexibility. Day-to-day tasks include researching grant opportunities, developing compelling proposals, coordinating with program and finance teams to gather data, and ensuring timely submission of applications and reports.
The Grant Specialist will track grant requirements, monitor budgets and deliverables, maintain accurate documentation, and support compliance with donor and regulatory standards. The role also involves building relationships with funders, contributing to fundraising strategy, and preparing clear communication materials that demonstrate impact and align with Relate Africa’s mission.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in grant writing, proposal development, and narrative storytelling for funding applications.
- Experience in research, data gathering, and analysis to support evidence-based proposals and reports.
- Proficiency in project management, including planning, tracking deliverables, and meeting deadlines.
- Ability to manage budgets, interpret financial information, and collaborate with finance teams on grant-related reporting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Familiarity with donor relations, fundraising processes, and working with NGOs or social impact organizations.
- Understanding of mental health, public health, or social services sectors in Africa is an advantage.
- Comfort with hybrid work arrangements, including effective remote collaboration and use of digital tools.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Development Studies, Public Health, Social Sciences, Business, or related discipline; advanced degree or specialized training in grant management is a plus.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and non-discriminatory practices in program design and implementation.
