Latinas Welding Guild is hiring its first full-time Grant Writer to build and lead our grants program. You’ll own our grants from prospect research to final report, turning program data and student stories into strong proposals that help open skilled-trade careers to women, Latinas, youth, and underrepresented communities in Indianapolis. Hybrid after 90 days.
What you'll do
You'll own LWG's grants from prospect research to final report, so our program team can focus on students. In your first year, expect to submit about 30 proposals and letters of inquiry.
- Research, write, and submit proposals, letters of inquiry, and budgets to foundations, corporations, and government funders.
- Turn program data and student stories into clear, competitive applications.
- Build and run our grants calendar, pipeline tracker, and library of reusable content.
- Write interim and final reports for every active grant, on time.
- Work with program staff, our finance team, and the Executive Director on budgets, outcomes, and approvals.
- Build relationships with funders through updates, check-ins, and site visits.
- Prepare regular grants updates for leadership and the board.
What you'll bring
- 2+ years of grant writing experience with funded proposals (samples required)
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Experience building grant budgets
- Excellent organization and the ability to manage several deadlines at once
- Comfort with Google Workspace or Microsoft Office and spreadsheets
- Commitment to opening skilled-trade careers to women, Latinas, youth, and underrepresented communities
Nice to have: workforce development, youth, or skilled-trades experience; government grants; bilingual Spanish and English; knowledge of Indiana funders; experience with tools like Candid, Instrumentl, or Salesforce.
Pay, benefits, and schedule
- Salary: $52,000–$62,000 per year, depending on experience
- Benefits: flexible PTO, nine paid holidays, and professional development support. Additional benefits will be discussed during the interview process.
- Schedule: Monday–Friday. Your first 90 days are on-site so you can get to know our programs, staff, and students. After that, you'll work three days in the office and two remote focus days. Occasional evenings for events and funder visits.
- Workplace: mostly office and computer work, with time in an active welding shop (closed-toe shoes required; safety glasses in the shop)
How to apply
Send your resume, a cover letter, and two writing samples (at least one funded grant proposal) to Consuelo at consuelo@weldingguild.com with "Grant Writer" in the subject line. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis or until the role is filled.
