Job Purpose: In collaboration with the Executive Leadership team and direct service departments, the Grants Director leads the acquisition and oversight of external funds from grant-funding partners that power the services provided by the Neighborhood Center of West Volusia (NHCWV). This position leads the coordination of the various agency service departments in grant-funding implementation, documentation, and reporting in alignment with funder requirements and agency standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Fund Acquisition
- Performs research to identify new funding opportunities among public databases, forums, and within nonprofit development organizations
- Maintain a list of funding priorities in collaboration with department directors and Executive Leadership to guide research and funding applications
- Completes the application for new grant funding, including writing narrative essays and collecting data reports from agency service departments
- Participate in ongoing professional development and networking to learn of new local, state, and federal funding opportunities
- When delegated, facilitate presentations to funding partners on behalf of the agency, to provide education on NHCWV services and public need
Ongoing Grant Reporting
- Create and maintain a dashboard system for tracking grant reporting deadlines, required meetings, and other deliverables for current funding
- Lead a monthly meeting of funded program leadership to communicate upcoming deadlines, identify support needs, and share information
- Prepare and submit ongoing reporting as required by each funding partner in accordance with written standards
- Collaborate with the Data Quality Assurance Specialist, program leadership, and the Finance department to collect data needed for reports
- As a member of the NHCWV Leadership team, participate and prepare for monthly meetings alongside department leaders
- Review service data and financial spending reports to ensure that funds are being utilized in accordance with funder guidelines; communicate discrepancies to department directors promptly to identify a corrective action plan
Qualifications, Experience, and Abilities:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, English, Communications, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field, preferred.
- Experience:
- At least two years’ experience in human services, social work, or other nonprofit industry.
- Two years’ experience in grant writing, administration, or program management.

- Must pass initial and subsequent random / periodic drug screen.
- Specialized Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated strengths in narrative storytelling.
- Proficiency in time and project management, with the ability to work collaboratively on a team to achieve a common goal
- Previous experience utilizing the Homeless Management Information Systems (HMIS) database, or other electronic medical record software, preferred.
