Job Description

This is a remote position.

Turn hand-drawn concepts and photographic references into print-ready artwork for a new apparel collection.

Organization: Confidential client in the retail/apparel sector; the name will be shared with shortlisted candidates before the client interview
Location: Remote - ideally candidates based in Palestine.
Role Type: Project-based | Consultant-contractor | Fixed term (target completion February-March 2027)
Reports to: Founder / Creative Lead

The opportunity
Our client is launching an apparel line and needs a designer to translate their personal vision into production-ready graphics. They are seeking a Graphic Designer/Apparel Artist to faithfully recreate approximately 75-80 designs from paper sketches and reference photos. In this role, you will convert raw source materials into clean, high-resolution art suitable for T-shirts and hoodies, working at a flexible pace of roughly five designs per month. This is primarily a redrawing and digitization role where accuracy to the original concept is paramount, with limited opportunities for creative improvisation on a small subset of pieces.

About the organization
Our client is an independent creator developing a niche apparel brand rooted in authentic, hand-crafted aesthetics. The project involves a specific library of 75-80 designs: roughly half are text-based typography work, while the remainder are image-based recreations of the founder's own photography and sketches. The goal is to produce a cohesive collection by early next year, ensuring each piece maintains the integrity of the original artistic intent while meeting professional printing standards.

What you will do
  • Convert approximately 75-80 source materials (sketches and photos) into polished, high-resolution, print-ready artwork.
  • Faithfully recreate image-based designs from photographic references, staying as close to the original as intended.
  • Handle text-based designs (~35-40 pieces), including typography selection and layout.
  • Deliver each design in two versions: one optimized for light garments (white) and one for dark garments (black/dark).
  • Manage a flexible workflow, targeting a pace of about five designs per month, scalable into a recurring arrangement.
  • Collaborate via email, Dropbox, and calls to provide updates and receive feedback.

What you bring

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating both illustration skills and the ability to faithfully recreate existing artwork or photographic references.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and/or Photoshop (or comparable vector/raster tools).
  • Expertise in photo-to-vector conversion, including tracing, refining, and simplifying while preserving likeness.
  • Ability to deliver finished files in PNG/JPEG format, plus vector files (AI/SVG/PDF) where redrawing is required.
  • Basic English communication skills sufficient to understand briefs and provide status updates.

Helpful, but not essential

  • Experience with apparel graphics, specifically understanding how prints sit on different garment types (tees vs. hoodies).
  • Background in tattoo flash refinement, print reproduction, or similar faithful-redrawing disciplines.
  • Capability to produce color separations if screen printing is adopted later.
  • Willingness to contribute creative direction on the ~5-10 "open interpretation" designs.

-----------------------------------

How the engagement works
  • Contracting party: You will contract directly with Apricot, which will manage contracting, invoicing/payroll, payments, and administrative support. Day to day, you will work with the client’s creative lead.
  • For this project-based engagement, you are expected to submit a proposal including: (a) a per-design rate estimate for three tiers (text-only, close recreation, and open interpretation), and (b) a total project-based estimate to complete all ~75-80 designs over several months. Sample designs are expected within days to a couple of weeks of starting, with the full collection targeted for completion between February and March 2027.
  • Planned check-ins are scheduled for month 1 and month 3 to see how the engagement is working and help address any issues.
