Salary Range: $68,100.00 To $77,700.00 Annually

To help support our continued growth, we are looking for an Actuarial Analyst to join our Group Benefits Practice. The role can be based in any one of our EB1 offices located in Canada.

A typical day-in-the life of a Group Benefits Actuarial Analyst involves performing data and actuarial analysis relating to employee benefits for active, disabled or retired employees and workers’ compensation benefits. You will work with our sophisticated valuation software and help with the ongoing refinement of our valuation and modelling tools. Additionally, you will be involved with group insurance renewals and financials, working with various pricing and claims experience trends and forecasting tools. To support the management of our clients’ overall benefit programs, you will assist with research, calculations, and writing reports to share key findings with clients.

We are looking for an individual with strong interpersonal and analytical skills who can fit into a tightly knit team and can effectively deal with competing priorities and take ownership and pride in their work, in a busy consulting practice. As a member of our team, the successful candidate will:

  • Provide exceptional support to our national team of consultants
  • Have the opportunity to work on plans in multiple sectors, including corporate, multi-employer trusteed, and public sector
  • Work collaboratively with other analysts in the practice
  • Have the ability to work with the various group insurance providers in the Canadian marketplace
  • Independently project manage small or less complex client projects
  • Respond to client queries and build direct relationships with clients
  • Contribute to the ongoing success of the practice and the firm
  • Receive exposure to other practice areas within Eckler

The ideal candidate offers the following:

  • 0–2 years of relevant experience
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team
  • Commitment to superior client satisfaction
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent planning, organization, and time management skills
  • Post-secondary degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or related discipline
  • Minimum 2 CIA/SOA professional exams or equivalent
  • Superior analytical skills and expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel combined with a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Access
  • Skills with programming languages (i.e. VBA, SQL, Python or R)
