Aflac is building the specialist capability required to create better customer and partner experiences, strengthen our enterprise cloud and data foundations, and deliver modern digital products safely and responsibly.
Within Digital Services, we are looking for a senior, hands-on product leader who will lead and coach a small team experienced Product Managers while personally shaping a new API-led model with Benefits Administration partners.
The initial focus will be modernising enrolment, but the ambition is broader: creating reusable integration capabilities, partner propositions and onboarding models that can support multiple products and customer journeys over time. If that sounds like the kind of challenge you enjoy, keep reading.
Team Context
We are building outcome-driven product capabilities within a modern Product Operating Model. Product teams work across customer experience, integrations, data and enterprise platforms, bringing Product, Engineering, Architecture, UX and business expertise together around measurable outcomes.
The market is moving towards more direct, API-enabled connections between insurers and Benefits Administration providers. Our opportunity is to make it faster and easier for partners, employers and brokers to work with Aflac, while improving data quality, reducing manual effort and creating a model that can scale.
This role will sit at the centre of that opportunity. You will help shape how we work with Benefits Administration partners, how our integration capabilities evolve, and how we take a stronger partner proposition to market. You will also lead a small group of experienced Product Managers working across different but complementary areas of integrations and enrolment.
Role Context
In this role leading Product for Integrations & Enrolment, you will own the overall partner and integration product strategy, product proposition, measurable outcomes and major investment trade-offs in partnership with business sponsors and Architecture.
This is a genuine player-coach role. Approximately 70% of your time will initially be focused on hands-on product leadership, with around 30% focused on leading and coaching the team. That balance may evolve as the partner model and team mature.
You will work directly with Benefits Administration/HR providers across product discovery, technical alignment, partner onboarding and ongoing product relationships. You will connect market insight, business strategy and technical possibilities to decide what we should build, what we should not build, and where investment can create the greatest value.
What you’ll be doing
- Own and evolve the product strategy for integrations and enrolment, connecting partner needs, Aflac strategy and market direction to measurable business outcomes.
- Shape a new API-led model with Benefits Administration/HR partners, combining partner APIs, shared platform capabilities, a repeatable onboarding model and a wider digital enrolment proposition.
- Work with executive stakeholders and business sponsors to determine how we go to market, communicate the product proposition and make clear investment and sequencing decisions.
- Lead discovery directly with partners, employers, brokers, internal users and subject-matter experts to uncover high-value problems and test assumptions.
- Partner closely with Engineering, UX Architecture to make informed trade-offs across partner-specific needs, reusable capabilities, scalability, security, reliability and speed to market.
- Create a coherent roadmap across integrations and enrolment, ensuring the work of individual Product Managers contributes to a shared strategy and avoids fragmented point solutions.
- Define and track outcomes across implementation time, manual effort, data quality, partner experience, operating cost, scalability, adoption and speed to market.
- Use qualitative and quantitative evidence, including research, analytics, experiments, prototypes and partner feedback, to guide product decisions and demonstrate realised value.
- Lead, coach and develop small group of Product Managers from the outset, strengthening their judgement across discovery, prioritisation, measurement and stakeholder leadership.
- Remove organisational blockers, manage dependencies and risks, and build productive relationships across Product, Engineering, Architecture, UX, Security, Compliance, Data and business teams.
- Champion outcome-driven product thinking, continuous discovery and continuous improvement across the wider Product community.
What you should have
Below is an overview of the skills and experience we are looking for, but please do not rule yourself out if you do not have everything on the list. It is your judgement, curiosity and ability to create outcomes that we are really interested in.
Essential criteria
- Five or more years of relevant product management experience in a digital environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrable experience as a senior Product leadership role or equivalent, owning strategy across a complex product area.
- Experience with B2B, B2B2C, platform, data, API, ecosystem or partner-integrated products.
- Evidence of leading product strategy, discovery and delivery, rather than specialising in only one stage of the product lifecycle.
- Experience working with executive stakeholders and helping shape product propositions, go-to-market choices, priorities and investment trade-offs.
- Experience coaching Product Managers and improving the quality of product thinking and decision-making around you.
- Strong product discovery capability, including partner or customer interviews, journey mapping, workshop facilitation, hypothesis testing, experimentation and prioritisation.
- Ability to define measurable outcomes and connect customer or partner problems to economic value, operating cost, risk, adoption and strategic fit.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain the why, simplify complexity and translate effectively between commercial, operational and technical audiences.
- Confidence operating in ambiguity, challenging assumptions and making evidence-based decisions about what should and should not be built.
Desirable criteria
- Experience in Benefits Administration, HR technology, payroll, employee benefits, insurance or another regulated and data-sensitive environment.
- Consultancy or advisory experience combined with evidence of remaining accountable through implementation and measurable outcomes.
- Technical credibility across API products, data exchange, integration patterns, platform reuse, partner onboarding, reliability and security. You do not need to be an architect, but ideally you would make sound product trade-offs with Engineering and Architecture.
- Experience creating external partner propositions, onboarding models or ecosystem strategies.
- Experience managing or leading multiple related products, roadmaps or product teams.
- Experience with product analytics, dashboards or business intelligence tools used to baseline performance, measure adoption and demonstrate value.
- Understanding of cloud platforms, API lifecycle management, integration platforms, systems of record, systems of truth or service orchestration.
Please note that this is not a remote role. You will be required to come into the Northern Ireland office two days per week. The role may require up to 10% travel, including travel connected to partner and stakeholder engagement.
We are committed to attracting diverse talent and supporting flexible working. Applications from candidates wishing to work four days per week are welcomed and will be considered in line with business and team requirements.
So that’s us. Thanks for taking the time to read this far. We look forward to hearing from you if you fancy joining an innovative technology company that runs locally and is supported by a well-established, highly recognised Fortune 500 company in the US.
