Show job description

Purple is looking for a Growth Director to lead new business sales of Engage and our wider AI products to marketing leaders worldwide.

Engage is an AI-native customer engagement platform. It combines first- party customer data with omnichannel engagement (email, SMS, surveys, offers and AI agents) and paid media activation across the major social and search channels. Marketing teams can build audiences, run acquisition, lifecycle and retention campaigns, and measure return on spend in one place, on usage-based pricing that scales with the value they get.

Alongside Engage, we are launching an AI platform that lets businesses build their own apps, workflows and agents on their own data. Marketing and commercial leaders are natural buyers for both.

This is a senior, quota-carrying role. You will open conversations with CMOs, marketing directors and CRM leaders, run consultative sales cycles and close new business. Your focus will be mid-market and enterprise accounts, and growing usage once customers are live.

You will work closely with Product and Marketing as the platform develops, and have a real say in how Purple takes it to market.

Why join Purple?

At Purple, our values define who we are. We make things happen, stay positive, work collaboratively, and avoid unnecessary politics and drama. We operate in a fast-moving environment where people are trusted to own outcomes, move quickly, and continuously raise the bar.

This is an opportunity to join a business with strong foundations and a globally recognised customer base, at the point where it is launching a new range of AI products into the marketing technology market.

What you will do

  • Own a senior new business quota globally, selling to CMOs, marketing directors, and CRM and customer experience leaders.
  • Build and close your own pipeline, from first conversation through to contract.
  • Run consultative sales cycles grounded in the customer's goals for acquisition, retention and customer lifetime value.
  • Build relationships across marketing, CRM, digital and commercial teams within each account.
  • Land and expand: grow usage and bring further teams and use cases onto the platform after the first sale.
  • Position paid media alongside owned channels where it fits the customer's plans.
  • Introduce our AI platform for building apps, workflows and agents to marketing and commercial leaders as it launches.
  • Bring market insight back to Product and Marketing, helping shape the platform, pricing and positioning.
  • Keep an accurate pipeline and forecast in our CRM.
  • Represent Purple at marketing industry events and in customer and partner meetings.

Who you are

  • An experienced B2B software salesperson with 8 or more years in SaaS sales, including at least 4 years selling marketing technology to marketing teams. This could be email and SMS marketing, CRM, customer data platforms, loyalty, marketing automation or similar.
  • Used to speaking the language of marketing: audiences, campaigns, retention, customer lifetime value and return on marketing spend.
  • A strong new business seller with a record of finding, building and closing your own opportunities, and of meeting or exceeding quota.
  • Comfortable selling usage-based pricing and growing accounts after the first sale.
  • Experience in hospitality, retail, leisure, venues or other consumer-facing sectors is a real advantage.
  • Curious about AI and how it is changing marketing, and comfortable selling a new product that is still developing.
  • Commercially driven and autonomous, with the discipline to keep a clean pipeline and accurate forecast.
  • A clear, courteous communicator who builds credibility quickly with senior marketing leaders.
  • Collaborative, working across Sales, Product and Marketing to win together.

  • Salary - up to £95,000 dependant on experience
  • Great earning potential - on target earnings 100% of base salary with accelerators for over-achievement
  • Remote and hybrid working - three days per week based in our offices and the rest working from home (there will be travel to customer sites as required for the role)
  • Flexible working & a great company culture - bring your best self to work
  • Emphasis on learning and development - progress your career
  • 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays) - and the option to buy extra days
  • 4 volunteering days each year - give something back to the community
  • Life insurance at 2 x salary
  • Employee Assistance Programme, 24/7 helpline
  • Company pension, 4% employer contribution
  • Private Healthcare & Long Term Incentive Plan after 12 months’ service

Our values

  • Make it happen - We own things and get them done whatever it takes.
  • Playful and positive - Life’s too short to take things too seriously, we like to have fun while we’re working and we love positivity - and yes the glass is half full.
  • In it together - We all have our day jobs to do, our OKRs to hit and projects to complete but we’re always available to help for the greater good of the business.
  • No bullsh*t, no politics - Seriously! We want to enjoy coming to work and that stuff doesn’t make it pleasant.
  • Know your stuff, keep learning - We value people who have knowledge and have a thirst for more of it, lots more of it.
  • No drama - Things don’t always go right as much as we try, having a hissy fit over it won’t help the situation and you won’t find that here.
  • Raise the bar - we want to win, so we aim high, take calculated risks, and push the boundaries of what's possible.
