About Us
Clasp is a venture-backed, mission-driven startup transforming access to education and career pathways. We are revolutionizing the way employers attract and retain critical talent and the way colleges and universities support their students through education financing — all while tackling the student debt crisis. (Yep, we think BIG.) We like to think of ourselves as more than a fintech; we're a catalyst for economic mobility.
A Forbes Fintech 50 company, portfolio company of SHRM (Society of Human Resource Management — the world's largest HR professional society), and one of Business Insider's "43 Start-Ups to Bet Your Career On in 2025," Clasp is driven by our commitment to social impact and innovation.
Clasp runs two go-to-market motions on one platform:
Clasp Talent sells a workforce financing benefit to healthcare employers — a B2B motion with long cycles, multi-stakeholder committees, and named accounts.
Clasp Finance originates loans to students at partner schools — a high-volume consumer funnel measured in applications, approvals, conversion, and unit economics. The two feed each other, and almost nothing about how they're instrumented is the same.
We need someone to build the machinery underneath both.
Clasp is hiring a GTM Engineer. This role is the accountable owner of Clasp's HubSpot instance and the systems that surround it — funnel architecture, revenue operations, lifecycle automation, scoring, routing, and reporting across both motions. What makes this an engineering role rather than an administrative one is the approach: you'd rather build a system that removes a manual process than run the manual process well, and you reach for an API or an automation before accepting that something has to be done by hand.
We're looking for the first hire in this seat. There's real mess to clean up and real leverage on the other side of it.
What You'll Do
HubSpot Ownership
Own the HubSpot instance end to end across portals: object model, lifecycle stages, properties, associations, pipelines, workflows, forms, integrations, and the marketing contact economics that determine what we pay.
Do the unglamorous work well — reconcile duplicate records, retire zombie workflows, audit which installed apps are quietly mutating data, keep consent and deliverability clean.
Know precisely why our contact tier and seat count are what they are, and be able to defend both at renewal.
Revenue Operations
Define funnel stages and GTM metrics that mean the same thing in every system, for two motions that don't naturally share a vocabulary.
Enforce pipeline and data hygiene through automation rather than by nagging reps.
Implement territory, segmentation, and ICP logic in the CRM instead of leaving it in a deck; own routing, SLAs, and lifecycle transitions.
Build lead and account scoring you can explain, and the quota and comp tracking infrastructure behind plan attainment.
Pipeline Systems & Growth Engineering
Build enrichment and data waterfalls, signal-based plays wired from public and product data, and automated research and personalization at the top of funnel.
Build lifecycle campaigns that fire on behavior rather than on a calendar.
Instrument the student funnel end to end so we can see where applicants stall and act on it inside a week.
Build and maintain landing pages, HubSpot CMS modules, and forms that support campaigns without a queue forming behind you.
Integrations & Data Flow
Build and maintain API, webhook, and OAuth integrations between HubSpot, our product, and third-party services.
Design dependable data flows with validation, observability, consent handling, access controls, and clear failure recovery.
Partner with our data team so HubSpot data lands clean and reportable in Snowflake and is trustworthy enough for the AI analytics agents our teams query in Slack.
Automation & AI
Identify where AI meaningfully removes work from the revenue org, and build it: enrichment and research agents, deal-desk assistants, self-serve reporting that doesn't route through a person.
Work within our existing patterns for production automation — scoped credentials, audit trails, kill switches. Our thesis is connective tissue, not foundation models.
Use AI-assisted development yourself where it improves quality and speed, with judgment about where it doesn't.
Change Management
Plan and land material changes to systems people are actively selling on — pipeline restructures, property migrations, workflow deprecations, new required fields — without breaking historical reporting or the team's trust.
Communicate changes before they ship, bring reps and CSMs along, and leave no quiet breakage behind.
Maintain a defensible record of what changed, when, why, and who approved it.
Stakeholder Management
Work with Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, Finance, Data, and Engineering to translate business goals into working systems.
Explain technical tradeoffs, options, and risks clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
Manage expectations and say no to some of what you're asked for, with a reason people accept.
Delivery
Own work from discovery and design through implementation, testing, launch, and post-launch support.
Break work into clear milestones, communicate progress and risk honestly, and ship reliable increments on schedule.
Prioritize ruthlessly. There will be more demand here than capacity, permanently.
Enablement & Documentation
Document system architecture, CRM configuration, integration behavior, and operational runbooks for both technical and business audiences.
Train and support internal teams so they can confidently use, maintain, and troubleshoot what you deliver.
Build so that you are not the single point of failure. Nothing you own should be a black box, and we'd like to move parts of the stack toward version control over time — you'd help us decide where that's worth it and where it's overkill.
Performance & Conversion Optimization
Measure and improve conversion across both funnels; find the bottlenecks, including the ones inside our own workflows.
Use analytics instrumentation, monitoring, and production diagnostics to catch regressions before a rep or an applicant does.
Quantify the impact of what you build, and be honest about what didn't work.
What You'll Need
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience. We weight the work heavily over the credential.
5+ years in revenue operations, marketing operations, GTM engineering, or an analytics role embedded in revenue, including 2+ years hands-on in HubSpot.
Experience building revenue infrastructure where little existed before.
Experience in a regulated industry — financial services, healthcare, insurance, or similar — where consumer data, consent, retention, and access controls have real rules attached, and where you treated those as design constraints rather than obstacles.
A track record of landing material CRM changes on a live revenue team without breaking their reporting.
Deep, hands-on HubSpot: custom objects and properties, workflows and custom code actions, forms, CMS modules, the CRM and Marketing APIs, association complexity, marketing contact economics. You've fixed an instance someone else broke.
SQL fluency and comfort reasoning about data models, not just running reports.
Working knowledge of REST APIs, OAuth, webhooks, data mapping, and reliable synchronization between systems — including what happens when a sync fails.
Enough scripting ability to automate rather than repeat yourself. We care more about how quickly you pick things up than what you already know; if there are gaps here, you'll close them on this team and we'll help.
Warehouse and BI exposure (Snowflake, dbt, or equivalent) is a strong plus.
Applied LLM tooling for enrichment, scoring, research, or GTM analytics, with a real view on where it works and where it doesn't, is a strong plus.
Nice to Have
Lending, fintech, or another high-volume consumer funnel.
Consumer funnel work and enterprise B2B pipeline work — both is rare and unusually valuable here.
Multi-product or multi-motion companies where one revenue vocabulary didn't fit the whole business.
What We Give in Return
Competitive cash and equity compensation.
Health benefits, including medical, dental, and vision coverage.
Student loan repayment benefits.
401(k) + Match.
Flexible PTO.
Opportunities to grow with a fast-moving, mission-driven team.
