About the Role

Level: 5+

Location: Remote

Department: Distribution

Contract: Permanent

The Head of Adviser Development and Productivity is responsible for leading the Adviser Development Manager team supporting advisers across both the National and Network businesses. The role will ensure that advisers receive consistent, high-quality coaching, structured development and targeted support to help them achieve Competent Adviser Status, strengthen performance across the sales and advice process and build sustainable early careers within the business.

The role will have responsibility for the ongoing development of Academy graduates joining the National business, ensuring they receive appropriate support as they transition from the Academy into adviser roles, achieve CAS and develop their productivity and commercial capability. Working closely with Academy, Distribution, Training, Compliance and business leaders, the role will ensure that adviser development activity is aligned with business priorities, regulatory expectations, the Quilter advice process and positive customer outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Adviser Development Manager team, setting clear priorities and performance expectations and ensuring consistent, effective support across the National and Network businesses.
  • Ensure advisers receive consistent, high-quality coaching, mentoring, observed client-meeting feedback and targeted support to strengthen capability and performance.
  • Drive adviser productivity by strengthening capability across the sales and advice process and translating development activity into sustained commercial performance and positive customer outcomes.
  • Route to CAS, applying clear performance standards and timely intervention where individuals are off track.
  • Work with the Academy and Training teams to translate agreed learning into practical, adviser-focused coaching and development support; formal training strategy, curriculum design, delivery and CPD ownership sit outside this role.
  • Maintain consistent coaching standards, development plans and performance interventions across the adviser lifecycle, using established frameworks and business requirements.
  • Ensure adviser coaching and development activity supports the Quilter advice process, regulatory standards, Consumer Duty and good customer outcomes, escalating formal training needs to the relevant team.
  • Use MI and KPIs to monitor adviser progress, time to competence, productivity, retention and team performance, ensuring clear ownership of improvement actions.
  • Work with leaders and teams across the wider business to identify and remove the operational, process, technology and capability blockers affecting adviser productivity, experience and retention.
  • Identify adviser capability and performance gaps, agree targeted coaching or support interventions and use feedback and quality insight to improve delivery.
  • Promote effective use of technology, data and AI-enabled coaching and performance tools to improve consistency, efficiency and adviser productivity.
  • Collaborate with Academy, Distribution, Training, Compliance and Technology colleagues to align adviser development support with operational priorities and agreed standards.
  • Manage team capacity, regional priorities and day-to-day delivery, maintaining operational effectiveness and consistent adviser support.

Regulatory Requirements:

The role will maintain adviser competence and professional standards by ensuring coaching, training, assessment and CPD align with the Quilter advice process, regulatory requirements, internal policies and good customer outcomes.

The role holder will promote responsible learning, ensuring advisers understand tool, data and AI limitations and remain accountable for advice quality, professional judgement and customer outcomes.

About You

  • An experienced people leader who sets clear direction, builds team capability and creates a strong performance culture.
  • Commercially focused, with a track record of improving adviser productivity and translating coaching and development activity into measurable performance outcomes.
  • Strong experience of adviser development, coaching, performance management and supporting advisers through appointment, CAS and ongoing productivity improvement.
  • Committed to developing people, building adviser confidence and capability, and applying timely support where performance is off track.
  • Able to translate agreed learning and business standards into practical coaching, development plans and performance interventions; formal training design and delivery are outside the role’s remit.
  • Data-led and comfortable using MI and KPIs to monitor adviser progression, productivity, retention and team performance.
  • Digitally confident and able to promote effective use of technology, data and AI-enabled tools to improve coaching consistency, efficiency and adviser productivity.
  • Collaborative and credible, able to work effectively with business leaders and partner teams to deliver agreed adviser development priorities.
  • Highly organised and accountable, with the ability to manage team capacity, regional priorities and day-to-day delivery while supporting agreed business change.

Success in the role will be measured by:

  • Increasing percentage of advisers achieving Competent Adviser Status (CAS) within initial timelines.
  • Delivering sustained improvement in adviser productivity and commercial performance.
  • Improving adviser retention through targeted development, proactive support and early intervention.
  • Creating a consistent, high-quality capability framework across the business.
  • Increasing effective adoption of technology and AI-enabled tools across the team and adviser learning journey, with evidence of improved efficiency and outcomes.
