Role Description

The Head of AI, Data & IT is a part-time volunteer hybrid role based in Switzerland, with a mix of on-site collaboration and remote work. This role is responsible for defining and implementing FLS’s AI and data strategy, ensuring that digital tools effectively support mentorship, community building, and educational programs. Day-to-day tasks include overseeing data governance and privacy, managing IT infrastructure and security, and guiding the integration of AI-driven solutions into FLS platforms and processes. The role also involves coordinating with internal stakeholders and external partners, selecting and managing technology vendors, and ensuring systems are reliable, user-friendly, and aligned with FLS’s mission and values. The Head of AI, Data & IT will provide strategic leadership while remaining hands-on with planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of digital initiatives.

Qualifications

• Experience in AI strategy and implementation, including applied machine learning and data-driven decision-making.
• Strong background in data management, covering data governance, analytics, privacy, and compliance.
• Proficiency in IT infrastructure and web operations, including system administration, cloud services, and cybersecurity best practices.
• Ability to design and oversee digital platforms and tools that support community, education, and collaboration.
• Proven leadership and stakeholder management skills, with experience aligning technology initiatives with organizational goals.
• Comfort working in a small, mission-driven organization, with a hands-on and solution-oriented mindset.
• Excellent communication skills in English; German or French proficiency in Switzerland is an advantage.
• Relevant academic background in computer science, data science, information systems, or a comparable field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Interest in leadership development, gender equity, and emerging industries where new models of work and mobility are evolving.
