Your Role
The Head of Architecture owns the technology strategy and architecture direction for Flybuys. The role leads the architecture function so enterprise architecture and solution design align with business priorities, member outcomes, and the needs of a coalition loyalty program.
It provides architectural leadership across engineering, data, security, and partner integration, guiding platform modernisation, investment choices, and the target-state architecture.

Your Role
The Head of Architecture owns the technology strategy and architecture direction for Flybuys. The role leads the architecture function so enterprise architecture and solution design align with business priorities, member outcomes, and the needs of a coalition loyalty program.
It provides architectural leadership across engineering, data, security, and partner integration, guiding platform modernisation, investment choices, and the target-state architecture.
Key Accountabilities
- Setting direction for enterprise and solution architecture, aligned with business objectives and the longer-term technology roadmap.
- Leading the design of complex, multi-domain solutions, balancing business, operational, security, and maintainability needs.
- Developing and maintaining architecture frameworks, principles, standards, and patterns that are practical for delivery teams to apply.
- Evaluating and recommending technology options, considering cost, performance, scalability, security, and long-term sustainability.
- Owning architecture decision records so major technology decisions are transparent, well reasoned, and traceable.
- Leading technology governance across delivery domains so major decisions align with enterprise strategy, architecture principles, and risk appetite.
- Conducting technology assessments, architecture risk reviews, and platform evaluations to identify risks, trade-offs, and improvement opportunities.
- Applying architecture standards consistently across major initiatives.
- Driving legacy modernisation by reducing low-value systems, managing technical debt, and moving toward the target-state architecture.
- Owning platform architecture across Flybuys, including integration patterns, data flows, and partner touchpoints that support member and partner outcomes.
- Working with loyalty partners on joint member solutions that require technology integration across retail, grocery, and broader partner environments.
- Advising on platform risk, technical debt, and modernisation priorities.
- Developing, owning, and maintaining the longer-term technology and data roadmaps so platform, data, and modernisation decisions are coordinated and aligned with business priorities.
- Providing architecture input into technology investment decisions, vendor assessments, and build-versus-buy choices, including the trade-offs between cost, risk, speed, and long-term maintainability.
- Leading and developing the architecture function, building clear accountability, strong engagement, practical capability, and succession depth.
- Building a strong sense of purpose across the architecture team.
- Developing architecture capability through skills growth, career pathways, and practical learning.
- Building succession strength and depth across the architecture team.
- Engaging with the Senior Leadership Team, Product, Data, Technology, Commercial, and Partner stakeholders to align architecture decisions with business priorities.
- Participating in Leadership Team forums and representing architecture clearly and consistently.
- Representing architecture in planning, delivery, governance, and executive discussions, including steering committees.
- Ensuring technology strategy and architecture support enterprise priorities, including artificial intelligence capability, data, security, and member experience outcomes.
- Explaining complex architecture concepts in plain language for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and leadership skills.
- Extensive experience in enterprise and solution architecture, including leadership of architecture teams or functions.
- Deep knowledge of architecture frameworks, standards, and governance.
- Experience designing secure, scalable, and resilient systems across cloud and on-premises environments, with artificial intelligence, Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, or Snowflake experience preferred.
- Experience delivering complex, multi-domain solutions in an agile environment.
- Strong understanding of integration architecture, application programming interface design, data flows, and platform modernisation.
- Experience in loyalty, retail, grocery, financial services, or coalition partner business models is highly desirable, particularly where solutions involve member experience, partner integration, or data sharing.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Strong commitment to continuous improvement and practical architectural delivery.
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams and influence at all levels.
- Commitment to Flybuys leadership principles and the ability to turn architecture direction into practical delivery outcomes.
