The Role
Ink Recruitment has been engaged to recruit a Head of Assurance for a well-renowned, Sydney-based financial services organisation. Reporting to a member of the executive team and sitting on the program leadership team, you will provide independent second-line oversight across a critical remediation program, with accountability for assurance over remediation design, delivery, reconciliation, financial integrity and closure.
You will lead one direct report with support from a broader project team. This is a role for someone who brings independent judgement and constructive challenge, testing whether methodologies, controls and customer outcomes are working as intended and backed by complete, regulator-ready evidence, while keeping clear separation from the design and execution teams.
Key Responsibilities
If you bring independent judgement, rigour and a commitment to fair customer outcomes, we’d love to hear from you. Submit your CV to hello@inkrecruitment.com.au or apply via Seek below.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead independent assurance across solution design, operational delivery and program closure, with a risk-based assurance plan aligned to remediation priorities, material risks and regulatory expectations
- Assess design and delivery of methodologies, treatment plans, population logic, calculations, processes and controls, and test that remediation is applied consistently across customer, claims, premium and payment outcomes
- Oversee end-to-end reconciliation across populations, customer outcomes, claims, refunds, payments and financial records, ensuring exceptions and variances are investigated, resolved and evidenced
- Evaluate control effectiveness across remediation processes and hand-offs, maintaining transparent findings and actions and confirming root causes are sustainably addressed
- Define closure requirements and provide an independent view on whether outcomes, reconciliation, control actions and residual risk support workstream and program closure
- Report with clarity to executive, Steering Committee, Board and Board committees, and support regulatory engagement with complete, consistent and defensible evidence
- Lead and coordinate, managing your direct report and working with specialist support across Risk, Finance, Legal, Internal Audit and external advisers
- Banking or financial services background with strong audit or assurance experience
- Working knowledge of remediation programs, ideally large-scale regulatory remediation
- Proven track record designing and leading risk-based assurance across complex programs or operational processes
- Strong reconciliation and financial integrity capability, including investigating and resolving exceptions and variances
- Experience assessing control design and operating effectiveness and validating sustainable closure of findings
- Confident Board, executive, audit and regulatory reporting, with clear and authoritative advice
- Sharp analytical judgement, professional scepticism and the confidence to challenge senior stakeholders constructively
- Tertiary qualification in risk, audit, finance, accounting, law, business or a related field, or equivalent senior experience
- Availability to start ASAP
- High-visibility role with direct exposure to the Board and executive
- Genuine independence and the mandate to shape assurance practice
- Opportunity to embed lasting reconciliation, evidence and closure discipline across the organisation
- Incredibly collaborative culture with supportive executives setting the right tone from the top
- Up to $245,000 package. Remote or hybrid working available
