Job Summary

The Head of Commercial Platforms is responsible for leading the strategy, delivery, integration, governance, and continuous improvement of the organization’s commercial technology platforms. Platforms may include Salesforce, contract lifecycle management (CLM), CPQ-estimator, and other customer-facing systems that enable sales, pricing, quoting, contracting, account management, and customer engagement. This role reports to the VP of Enterprise Platforms under the Chief Operating Officer and is accountable for ensuring commercial platforms are scalable, secure, integrated, user-centered, and aligned to enterprise growth objectives

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Commercial Platform Strategy: Define and execute the roadmap for commercial platforms, including Salesforce, CLM, CPQ-estimator, and other customer-facing systems. Ensure platform investments support revenue growth, sales effectiveness, contracting efficiency, customer experience, and enterprise scalability.
  • Team Leadership: Build, mentor, and lead a team of platform owners. Foster collaboration, accountability, technical excellence, and a strong service orientation to the business.
  • Technical and Solution Oversight: Oversee platform architecture, configuration, customization, integrations, data flows, release management, and production support. Ensure solutions are designed for usability, reliability, security, maintainability, and alignment with enterprise architecture standards.
  • Cross-Functional Business Partnership: Partner with leaders to understand business needs, prioritize demand, resolve issues, and deliver platform capabilities that improve commercial outcomes and user adoption.
  • Platform Optimization and Innovation: Identify opportunities to simplify processes, reduce manual work, improve sales productivity, enhance customer-facing workflows, and leverage automation, analytics, AI-enabled capabilities, and emerging platform features where appropriate.
  • Governance, Risk, and Compliance: Establish platform governance, prioritization, access controls, data stewardship, documentation, testing, change management, and compliance practices. Ensure customer and commercial data is protected and platform changes are delivered with appropriate controls and communication.

Qualifications & Requirements


Required Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience leading enterprise applications, commercial platforms, revenue operations technology, or digital transformation initiatives, with significant experience supporting sales, quoting, contracting, customer engagement, or lead-to-cash processes.


Technical Expertise:

  • Deep knowledge of commercial platform ecosystems, including Salesforce Sales Cloud or related CRM capabilities, CLM solutions, CPQ or estimating tools, workflow automation, integrations, data management, reporting, and user support models.
  • Experience with platform architecture, system integrations, release management, Agile delivery, DevOps practices, data governance, security, access controls, and enterprise application lifecycle management.

Leadership Skills:

  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage platform budgets and vendor relationships, prioritize demand, influence senior stakeholders, and deliver complex initiatives on time with measurable business impact.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field preferred. Relevant certifications in Salesforce, CPQ, CLM, enterprise architecture, Agile, or product management are a plus.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong executive communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business needs into scalable platform capabilities and explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences. Demonstrated ability to balance strategic vision with hands-on operational execution.
