Show job description

Are you an experienced cyber security professional ready to lead security across critical energy infrastructure? Join Alight and help protect the renewable energy assets driving the transition to a fossil-free grid.

Founded in 2013, Alight is a leading solar and battery energy storage (BESS) independent power producer in the Nordics. As we continue to grow, we're looking for a practical, hands-on Head of Cyber to lead our IT and OT team and take ownership of cyber security across the business.

Your impact

Reporting to our COO, you'll combine technical expertise with strategic leadership to strengthen security across our solar parks, battery systems, corporate IT and offices. You'll work closely with our executive team and colleagues across operations, asset management and regulatory affairs.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leadership & strategy: Lead and develop the IT and OT team, own the cyber security roadmap, manage risk and report to the executive team and board.

  • IT & OT security: Strengthen infrastructure and operational technology security, including architecture, third-party access and supplier requirements.

  • Incident response & compliance: Develop detection and response capabilities, lead incident preparedness and oversee compliance with applicable regulations and security standards, including NIS2.

  • Physical security: Oversee security risks across our operating sites and offices.

  • AI & security culture: Continually develop security guardrails for AI tools and integrations, manage external partners and promote security awareness across Alight.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll have the autonomy to build and improve our security programme as the business grows.

We’re looking for you

You'll have a high level of responsibility and independence in this role. You should be comfortable presenting to the board in the morning and working through a technical problem with your team in the afternoon.

The role suits a practical, experienced security professional who wants to grow as a leader and enjoys building from the ground up in a fast-growing company, takes ownership, and prioritises real risk reduction over paperwork.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Available to start soon, as a permanent employee (preferred) or a consultant.

  • 5–10+ years of professional experience, including at least 3 years in team leadership.

  • Hands-on experience securing IT environments, ideally including OT or industrial systems.

  • Experience leading security projects, incident response, monitoring or security operations.

  • Good understanding of NIS2 and frameworks such as ISO 27001 and IEC 62443.

  • Confidence communicating security risks to senior leadership, boards, customers and investors.

  • Strong ownership, practical problem-solving skills and the ability to balance technical detail with business priorities.

  • Fluency in written and spoken English.

  • Based in the Nordics, with regular travel to our Stockholm office and operating sites.

Experience in energy, utilities or other critical infrastructure, as well as AI security, is a plus.
A technical degree is preferred.
