Wealth & Insurance (W&I) aims to redefine the Insurance and Pensions market by developing innovative digital propositions that deliver exceptional customer experiences. To stay relevant in a competitive, volatile, and digitally driven environment, our business must evolve rapidly.
Our Head of Economic Crime role offers a unique opportunity to drive significant growth and transformation within W&I. You'll lead a team of experts, influence internal customers across the Group, and shape new ways of working. By maximising data, MI, automation, and AI, you'll help build a proactive and predictive control culture, focusing on protecting our customers and business while optimising and automating fraud and financial crime controls.
What you’ll be doing
Reporting directly to the Chief Controls Officer (CCO) for W&I, you'll play a strategic role in designing, optimising, and automating our control environment. As the Nominated Senior Manager (NSM) for Fraud, AML, Sanctions & Anti-Bribery, and Nominated Officer (NO) for Insurance, you'll engage and influence across LBG to ensure our business remains well-controlled and customer-focused, while reducing operational losses.
Your accountabilities will include:
- Building a high-performing, commercially minded, innovative and customer-first team (leveraging AI) that partners with platforms and business across core sites (including offshore).
- Designing, implementing, and enhancing the end-to-end economic crime control environment, ensuring adherence to regulations, policy and risk appetite, and moving towards automated, sustainable, and scalable controls to meet strategic and regulatory objectives.
- Supporting the business in achieving a leading end-to-end customer experience through pragmatic decision-making, influencing, innovation, and inspiring change at pace.
- Delivering a proactive and predictive control culture using data, insights, innovation, and technology.
- Developing effective, ongoing risk-based, data-led control testing and monitoring in collaboration with risk specialist teams, Audit, and external regulators.
- Collaborating within W&I and the Group to offer insights and share findings on lessons learned, best practices, and market insights through governance and data.
Why join us?
We’re on an exciting journey to transform our Group and the way we’re shaping finance for good. We’re focusing on the future, investing in our technologies, workplaces, and colleagues to make our Group a great place for everyone.
What we’re looking for?
- Deep (c15 year’s) experience of risk management (particularly fraud and financial crime), control by design, policy compliance, governance and regulatory knowledge (including consumer duty).
- Shown ability to build, lead and inspire an engaged, diverse, solution focused and high performing team both on and offshore.
- Confirmed ability to support the growth of the W&I business, building automated controls which are sustainable and scalable, mitigating challenges and driving good customer outcomes, including those for vulnerable customers.
- Demonstrable previous experience and knowledge of Wealth & Insurance and the technology landscape.
- Experience of redefining and changing businesses sustainably, with a particular focus on using data to provide insights, bringing to bear new technologies, process reengineering, innovation and cost of control.
- Excellent interpersonal and presentational skills. This also includes the ability to work across different Group functions to ensure W&I is represented.
- Proactively and pragmatically identify and resolve challenges and lead ad hoc control focused initiatives which support the growth of the business, including targeted testing. Be comfortable shaping solutions and dealing with ambiguity as you develop what good looks like.
