The role is accountable for consistently delivering reliable business outcomes, sound architecture, effective controls and a sustainable delivery model.

Main Responsibilities

  • Set and execute the enterprise technology strategy and roadmap aligned to business priorities, risk appetite, architecture standards and the wider IT strategy.
  • Own the portfolio of technology products and services supporting Finance, Treasury, Product Control, Tax, Market Risk, Credit Risk and Regulatory Reporting, with clear product ownership, service levels and lifecycle plans.
  • Build trusted partnerships with senior business leaders, translating business strategy, regulatory commitments and control needs into prioritised technology outcomes.
  • Lead the Enterprise Support and Digital Enablement capabilities, ensuring effective support, service transition, operational readiness and measurable adoption.
  • Govern the demand, prioritisation, capacity, budgets, suppliers, delivery risks, dependencies and benefits realisation across the portfolio.
  • Ensure solutions comply with enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, data governance, resilience, change management and software engineering standards.
  • Drive simplification and modernisation of the application estate, reducing technical debt, duplicate capabilities, unsupported technology and avoidable operational cost.
  • Establish outcome-based performance measures covering value delivery, reliability, control effectiveness, customer experience, cost and technical health.
  • Develop high-performing multidisciplinary teams, with clear accountabilities, succession plans, capability development and an inclusive culture.
  • Represent the domain at architecture, portfolio, risk, audit and executive governance forums, providing transparent decisions and escalation of material issues.

Experience Required

  • Substantial leadership experience in enterprise technology, application delivery or product management within a complex, regulated organisation.
  • Demonstrable ownership of business-critical technology portfolios spanning finance, risk, treasury, regulatory or corporate functions.
  • Successful delivery of multi-year transformation and modernisation programs involving legacy platforms, integration, data and operating-model change.
  • Experience leading managers and multidisciplinary teams across product, engineering, analysis, support and supplier organisations.
  • Strong track record of executive stakeholder management, investment cases, budget accountability, prioritisation and benefits realisation.
  • Experience managing operational risk, audit actions, regulatory commitments, service performance and major incidents.

Technical Requirements

  • Strong understanding of enterprise application architecture, APIs and integration, data platforms, cloud services, identity and access management, observability and secure software delivery.
  • Working knowledge of technology supporting all aspects of corporate functions including finance, treasury, risk, credit, product control and regulatory reporting in a trading or financial-services context.
  • Good understanding of Power Platform, Power BI, workflow automation and enterprise AI enablement, including governance, data protection and model risk considerations.
  • Practical knowledge of ITIL service management, DevSecOps, software development lifecycle controls, resilience, disaster recovery and third-party risk management.
  • Ability to assess architectural fitness, technical debt, non-functional requirements, total cost of ownership and strategic vendor risk.
  • Understanding of access control, auditability, data protection and segregation of duties to support audit activities.

Person Specification

  • Strategic and commercially minded, while willing to engage with delivery detail and operational risk across a broad and varied stakeholder group.
  • Credible with senior leaders and technical teams; able to challenge constructively and make clear decisions under uncertainty.
  • Strong communicator who can explain technology options, cost, risk and delivery implications clearly.
  • Outcome-focused, disciplined and transparent, with a strong control mindset and clear ownership of commitments.
  • Skilled at simplifying complex issues, balancing competing priorities and communicating trade-offs.
  • Inclusive people leader who coaches, delegates and builds durable organisational capability.
