NHS Supply Chain, who are we?
Our role is to support the NHS to save lives and improve health. We are a part of the NHS family, and our role is to source, deliver and supply healthcare products, services and food for NHS trusts and healthcare organisations across England and Wales.
We serve every NHS Trust and operate a national network of distribution centres, managing relationships with more than a thousand suppliers and delivering more than 8,000,000 orders each year to more than 17,000 locations. Doing all of this on behalf of the NHS gives NHS staff more time to focus on their main priority of providing excellent patient care.
What skills will help you thrive in this role?
- Proven track record of leading an Enterprise PMO in a large, complex organisation (ideally public sector or large-scale logistics/B2B).
- Ability to translate the NHS Long Term Plan into actionable Portfolio roadmaps. Demonstrates the ability to lead and navigate areas of ambiguity.
- Extensive experience managing £100m+ transformation portfolios, specifically involving digital ERP transitions or infrastructure modernisation.
- Converting raw PPM data into "Executive Intelligence and informative insight" You must be able to create and tell compelling stories with data that identifies a risk, along with appropriate mitigation strategies before it becomes a concern.
- Designing frameworks that provide the unlock for control and predictability without creating "red tape" that stifles delivery speed, and agility.
- The ability to mediate between competing Executive priorities. You aren't just "managing a list"; you are recommending which projects to stop or delay to protect the NHS Supply Chain 2030 strategy, through sound data led insights.
- Strong capability in benefits realisation, risk management and using data driven insights, analytics and reporting to support executive level decision making.
- Advanced understanding of PPM methodologies (e.g., MoP, MSP, PRINCE2, Agile/Hybrid) and experience implementing organisation wide standards, tooling and ways of working. With the ability to pivot the organisation into news ways of working that not only deliver for today but set us up for the challenges of tomorrow.
