Duration: Full time (40h/week), permanent
Gross salary: from EUR 62.000,00 (based on Austrian salary); market rates apply elsewhere

About the role
Sound financial planning is what allows Light for the World to turn funding into lasting impact for people with disabilities across the countries where we work. As Head of Financial Planning & Analysis, you’ll strengthen the financial management and strategic decision-making of our whole organisation.

You’ll oversee global budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis, ensuring our resources are used effectively to deliver on our mission. Leading and developing the FP&A team, you’ll work closely with senior leadership, country offices and National Members to monitor performance and turn financial data into clear, actionable insights.

If you combine deep financial expertise with a strong understanding of the international NGO operating environment, from restricted and unrestricted funding to multi-country programme delivery, and enjoy leading people, this role offers the opportunity to shape the financial foundation of our global work.

  • Lead, develop and inspire the FP&A team, set clear goals, coach for growth and foster a culture of collaboration, service orientation and continuous learning
  • Steer the annual budgeting and multi-year financial planning processes in line with the MAPP process and our funding strategy
  • Provide financial insights that support Light for the World’s strategic objectives, long-term financial sustainability and programmatic impact
  • Partner with the International Director Finance & Operations, the IMT and National Members on scenario planning, resource allocation and risk management
  • Deliver timely, accurate and insightful management reports for senior leadership, the FAIR Committee, the Board and National Members
  • Analyse organisational performance, funding trends and cost structures to identify efficiencies and opportunities
  • Monitor the financial health of the organisation, including liquidity, reserves and unrestricted funding positions
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior and country leadership, translating financial data into actionable insights
  • Work closely with Operations, People & Culture and Programme teams to strengthen budget ownership and accountability
  • Strengthen planning systems, tools and reporting frameworks and drive process improvements in budgeting, forecasting and analysis across the confederation
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field (Master’s, MBA or CPA preferred)
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in financial management, ideally leading FP&A or similar functions in an iNGO or complex international organisation
  • Proven experience with multi-currency, multi-country budgeting and financial consolidation
  • Solid understanding of the iNGO environment, including restricted and unrestricted funding
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, ideally managing teams across regions or time zones
  • Excellent analytical, communication and presentation skills, you turn numbers into strategic recommendations
  • Proficiency in FP&A systems (e.g. Adaptive Insights, Power BI or similar) and advanced Excel skills
  • Comfortable working in a matrixed, multicultural and dynamic environment
  • Proactive, solutions-oriented and committed to continuous improvement and impact
  • Excellent English language skills
