Location/Office Policy: Molesworth Street, Dublin 2. This is an office-centric role operating within AIB’s hybrid working model, subject to the needs of the role, our customers and the business.

  • Do you want to shape AIB’s Fraud Compliance capability and strengthen how the Bank responds to rapidly evolving fraud risks?
  • Are you a senior Fraud specialist who can provide credible regulatory advice, independent challenge and strategic leadership?
  • Can you also lead effective oversight of Transaction Monitoring and help bring fraud and wider Financial Crime detection capabilities closer together?

This is a senior leadership role within Group Financial Crime Compliance, responsible for leading AIB’s Fraud Compliance Advisory capability and second-line oversight of Transaction Monitoring. The role will provide independent advice and challenge on the Bank’s management of fraud risk, support the evolution of the Fraud Compliance framework and influence major fraud prevention and transformation initiatives. You will also oversee the effectiveness of Transaction Monitoring and help shape a more integrated, intelligence-led approach to detecting and disrupting Financial Crime.

  • Lead and develop AIB’s Fraud Compliance Advisory capability, establishing clear priorities, standards and accountabilities for effective second-line oversight.
  • Act as the senior Compliance subject matter expert on fraud, providing independent advice and challenge on fraud risks, regulatory obligations, customer outcomes, control design and material change initiatives.
  • Shape the development of the Fraud Compliance framework, including governance, risk assessment, oversight, reporting, issue management and escalation arrangements.
  • Use fraud intelligence, typologies, trends, events and data to identify emerging threats, assess control implications and influence enhancements to the Bank’s fraud prevention strategy and control environment.
  • Partner with Fraud, Financial Crime, Payments, Operations, Product, Technology and Data teams to provide constructive challenge and support sustainable responses to evolving fraud risks.
  • Lead second-line oversight of Transaction Monitoring, including its strategy, risk and coverage assessment, detection-scenario lifecycle, data and technology dependencies and ongoing effectiveness.
  • Provide independent review and challenge of monitoring and detection capabilities, including scenario performance, alert outcomes, control gaps and opportunities to bring fraud and AML detection closer together.
  • Develop clear, outcome-focused management information and reporting on Fraud Compliance and Transaction Monitoring risks for senior management, executive and Board governance.
  • Lead and support regulatory engagements, inspections and assurance activity relating to fraud, Transaction Monitoring and wider Financial Crime detection controls, ensuring timely and well-evidenced responses.
  • Support and deputise for the Group MLRO at senior internal and external fora, as required, and help shape the wider Financial Crime Compliance strategy and target operating model.

  • Significant senior-level experience in Transaction Monitoring, AML/CFT, Financial Crime Compliance, fraud risk or a closely related field within banking or financial services

  • Significant senior-level experience in fraud risk management, fraud prevention, Fraud Compliance, fraud strategy or a closely related Financial Crime role within banking or financial services.
  • Deep practical knowledge of fraud risks, typologies, prevention and detection controls, together with a strong understanding of the relevant regulatory and customer-protection environment.
  • Proven experience providing independent advice and challenge on fraud strategy, governance, risk assessment, control design, customer outcomes or material fraud-related change.
  • Strong understanding of fraud data, analytics and technology, with the ability to assess emerging threats, challenge control effectiveness and translate intelligence into practical action.
  • Knowledge of Transaction Monitoring, AML/CFT and Financial Crime detection frameworks, including risk and coverage assessment and scenario lifecycle management, would be advantageous.
  • Proven people leadership, credibility with senior management and regulators, and the ability to communicate complex fraud, technical and risk issues clearly and decisively. Relevant professional membership or qualification in fraud, compliance, Financial Crime, risk, data/analytics, accountancy, law or a related discipline is required.
