Rackspace Technology™ is a leading end-to-end, hybrid cloud and AI solutions company. We can design, build, and operate our customers' cloud environments across all major technology platforms, irrespective of technology stack or deployment model. We partner with our customers at every stage of their cloud journey, enabling them to modernize applications, build new products, and adopt innovative technologies. Named a best place to work by Newsweek and Forbes, we attract and develop world-class talent to deliver a Fanatical Experience™ – so our customers can achieve better outcomes and stay ahead of what’s next.
The Head of Investor Relations will lead Rackspace Technology's global investor relations strategy, translating business strategy, financial performance, and operating drivers into a compelling, credible investment narrative. This executive will partner closely with the CFO, business unit leaders, and their finance teams to develop a deep understanding of results, forecasts, and the factors driving growth, profitability, and cash flow.
The role requires a strong FP&A foundation, financial modeling capabilities, and capital markets fluency. Rather than a traditional communications-led IR approach, the successful candidate will bring analytical rigor to investor engagement, earnings preparation, and market intelligence.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Investor Relations Strategy & Financial Narrative
- Define and execute the investor relations strategy, aligning external messaging with Rackspace's business priorities and long-term value creation.
- Build an investment narrative grounded in financial analysis, operational KPIs, revenue and margin drivers, cash flow, and growth opportunities.
- Advise the CEO, CFO, and executive leadership on investor expectations, market perceptions, and financial communications.
Financial Analysis & Business Unit Partnership
- Partner directly with business unit leaders and finance teams to understand operating performance, forecasts, and key financial drivers.
- Apply FP&A and modeling expertise to assess trends, variances, assumptions, risks, and opportunities across the business.
- Connect business unit KPIs and strategic initiatives to consolidated results and explain their implications for investors.
- Challenge assumptions and develop clear, data-supported explanations of business performance.
Investor & Analyst Relations
- Build trusted relationships with institutional investors, sell-side analysts, and other capital markets stakeholders.
- Partner with Apollo Global Management and its Capital Markets team on investor management, financial messaging, and market perspectives, grounded in Rackspace business performance.
- Understand analyst models, estimates, valuation assumptions, and questions; bring actionable market feedback to leadership.
Earnings & Financial Communications
- Lead quarterly earnings releases, investor presentations, call scripts, executive messaging, and Q&A preparation.
- Work with Corporate Finance, FP&A, and business unit finance teams to ensure accuracy and consistency in external messaging.
- Prepare the CEO and CFO for earnings calls, investor meetings, roadshows, and analyst engagements using rigorous financial analysis.
Capital Markets Intelligence & Reporting
- Monitor analyst estimates, stock performance, shareholder activity, market trends, and investor sentiment.
- Conduct peer benchmarking, valuation comparisons, and competitive financial analysis.
- Translate market feedback and financial analysis into actionable insights for the CFO and executive team.
Regulatory & Cross-Functional Partnership
- Partner with Finance, Legal, and Corporate Communications on SEC disclosures and public company reporting.
- Ensure investor communications comply with Regulation FD and applicable disclosure requirements.
- Coordinate external messaging with internal financial reporting and corporate communications.
LEADERSHIP SCOPE
- Own the Investor Relations function and external financial narrative without direct responsibility for managing FP&A.
- Build trusted relationships across business units and Finance to connect operating execution with financial outcomes.
- Strengthen capital markets credibility through precise, financially grounded communications and executive partnership.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Financial & Analytical Expertise
- 10+ years of progressive experience across FP&A, corporate finance, investor relations, equity research, investment banking, or related roles, including meaningful hands-on FP&A experience.
- Strong financial modeling, forecasting, financial statement analysis, and understanding of revenue, margin, cash flow, and valuation drivers.
- Demonstrated ability to partner with business unit finance leaders, challenge assumptions, and turn complex results into actionable insights.
- Experience interpreting operating KPIs and explaining their impact on consolidated financial performance.
Investor Relations & Capital Markets Expertise
- Experience in investor relations, capital markets, equity research, investment banking, or financial communications, ideally in public technology.
- Familiarity with institutional investors, analyst models, quarterly earnings, investor presentations, and market expectations.
- Working knowledge of SEC disclosure requirements, Regulation FD, and public company governance.
Leadership Profile
- Analytical, commercially minded executive able to move between detailed financial models and investor-facing narratives.
- Exceptional executive presence, financial storytelling, and written and verbal communication skills.
- Collaborative partner able to influence Finance, business unit leadership, and senior executives without direct authority.
- Strategic thinker with sound judgment, curiosity, and a deep understanding of business performance.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related discipline required; MBA, CFA, or CPA preferred.
