About The Role
The Head of IT eCommerce, reporting to the Global IT Director, is accountable for both the reliable day-to-day operation and continuous improvement of Dyson’s global eCommerce technology estate, and the delivery of strategic transformation. The role balances operational excellence, small changes and enhancements that deliver near-term business value, with larger programmes that modernise platforms, capabilities and ways of working.
Run and continuously improve
- Own the health, performance, security and availability of the eCommerce technology estate, including effective support for peak trading periods.
- Partner with business teams to assess, prioritise and deliver incremental improvements based on customer value, commercial benefit, risk and effort.
- Maintain and deliver a prioritised pipeline of small changes, business enhancements, technical improvements, regulatory requirements and technical-debt reduction.
- Manage technical debt, platform lifecycle, resilience, capacity and operational risk.
- Ensure suppliers and internal teams deliver agreed service levels, quality, cost and business outcomes.
Transform and enable future growth
- Define and own the eCommerce technology strategy, target architecture and multi-year roadmap. Partnering closely with other IT functions to influence and deliver broader Global IT strategy within the agreed Enterprise Architecture standards and governance.
- Lead the technology contribution to major platform, capability and operating-model transformation programmes, with clear accountability for delivery outcomes, dependencies, risks and benefits.
- Ensure transformation is delivered without compromising the stability or performance of live services.
- Drive adoption of modern engineering, product, data, automation and AI capabilities.
- Oversee the transition of new capabilities into sustainable operational ownership.
- Providing Digital and technology insights into the business leadership teams on technology trends, benchmarking and innovation and how these can be leveraged to drive business growth and new operating models to achieve the expected goals and ambitions of their functions.
About You
With experience in a similarly dynamic, international role and complex organisation, you’ll have a proven working knowledge of leading a core global team within a large IT function.

Essential:
- Have implemented eCommerce solutions at scale, understanding the overall architecture and business capabilities.
- Experience in supporting or leading transformational programmes; managing the technical, changing operational processes, business models and supporting your people.
- Experience and up-to-date knowledge of AI and use within eCommerce.
- Deep product knowledge in several eCommerce platforms is essential - SAP Hybris, Adobe Commerce or Magento is advantageous.
- Good knowledge of integration and security products around eCommerce supporting ERP, CRM, PIM, OMS and more.
- Experience in architecting and understanding different vendor solutions in this space is advantageous
- Have experience building teams in a true DevOps manner to handle eCommerce changes in an agile and cost-effective manner and ability to support 24/7, peak and troughs of an eCommerce business.
- Demonstrable experience of balancing live-service accountability, continuous improvement and large-scale transformation.
- Experience managing a portfolio of operational work, small enhancements, technical debt and strategic programmes.
- Proven ability to maintain service stability while delivering significant platform and business change.
- Experience establishing transparent demand, prioritisation and value-measurement processes.
- Customer focused and driven, focused on service and operational excellence.
- Sound commercial understanding, drive and experience of a KPI/Service culture.
- An ability to derive business benefits from technology and to recognise opportunities.
- A professional who can provide examples of transforming ways of working through technology within a global company
- Flexible with the ability to embrace change, as well as drive and lead change
- Strong financial understanding
- Experience leading teams of business analysts, solution architects, development managers, as well as project managers to develop clear architectural roadmaps and associated competencies

1 year fixed-term contract
At Dyson in the Netherlands, all new joiners start on a fixed-term contract, with the intention to move to a permanent contract after the first year.
