Role overview:

The Head of Sales, Europe is a senior individual contributor who personally owns and closes all European revenue across Defence, Government and Commercial customers, selling both directly and through partners.

Purpose of the role:

Act as the company's senior commercial face in Europe and build the regional business from the front. The role combines strategy with hands-on selling: setting the European plan, then running the largest opportunities personally. It spans three very different buying worlds. Defence buyers work through classified requirements, long programmes and primes. Government buyers follow formal public procurement. Commercial buyers move faster on value and return on investment. As an individual contributor, the role holder achieves results through personal selling, partners and cross-functional colleagues rather than a direct team.

Qualifications and experience:

The ideal candidate is a proven senior seller with a personal network in European defence and government, who is also comfortable closing commercial deals.

Essential:

  • 12 or more years of B2B sales experience in Europe, with a proven track record of closing high-value deals and consistently meeting annual sales quotas.
  • At least 12-15 years selling to defence and/or government customers, including leading tender and programme pursuits.
  • Working knowledge of defence procurement and public procurement rules (for example the EU Defence and Security Procurement Directive, EU Procurement Directives and national equivalents).
  • Experience teaming with defence primes and system integrators, and managing resellers or distributors alongside direct sales.
  • Experience with export controls, sanctions and handling classified or sensitive information.
  • Comfortable working as a senior individual contributor, leading a virtual team without line authority.
  • Strong forecasting and CRM discipline.
  • Fluent business English.

Desirable:

  • Existing network in [target ministries of defence, armed forces, NATO agencies and primes].
  • Military or defence industry background.
  • Experience in Geospatial & Space industry.
  • One or more additional European languages (for example German, French or Polish).
  • Experience entering new European markets for a growing company.
  • Training in a sales or bid methodology (MEDDICC, Shipley or similar).

  • Location: Remote, with regular travel across Europe
