Head of Software Development Department

Hitcontract is currently recruiting a Head of Software Development Department on behalf of its client, a company specialising in the development and delivery of IT solutions.

We are looking for an experienced and responsible professional who will lead the Software Development Department, ensure its smooth operation, manage the team, and oversee the successful delivery of IT projects.

The company develops and maintains information systems of varying complexity, delivers projects for both the public and private sectors, and develops its own digital products, including Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions.

This role offers the opportunity to make independent decisions, build a strong team, initiate change, and directly contribute to the company's growth. We are looking for someone who can combine strategic thinking with day-to-day operational management, values people, and takes ownership of results.

Your responsibilities:

Organising and managing the Software Development Department, setting priorities, planning resources, and ensuring operational efficiency.
Building and developing the team, recruiting employees, supporting their professional growth, motivating them, ensuring their well-being, and evaluating performance.
Overseeing IT project delivery, ensuring control over deadlines, project scope, and quality in cooperation with project managers.
Managing project budgets, costs, profitability, and the department's financial performance, as well as monitoring operational targets and KPIs.
Communicating with clients, managing their needs and expectations, resolving challenging situations, and supporting project managers.
Evaluating technical solutions and the quality of developed systems, as well as contributing to the development of the company's own products, including AI-based solutions.
Evaluating new project opportunities, preparing commercial proposals and cost estimates, and improving internal processes.

What we expect from you:

A strong understanding of software development processes and technological solutions, with the ability to assess their quality and functionality.
Experience delivering public-sector IT projects, with an understanding of public procurement requirements and the specifics of developing government information systems.
Previous management experience in IT or alternative experience managing complex IT projects and coordinating teams of specialists.
The ability to plan resources, manage budgets, and assess project costs and profitability.
Strong leadership, organisational, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to make independent decisions and resolve complex situations.
An understanding of Artificial Intelligence technologies and their applications, as well as digital product development principles.

Salary

EUR 4,700–6,700 gross per month, plus a performance-based bonus scheme.

The final salary offer will be determined based on the predefined salary range for this position and will depend on the candidate's level of competence, professional experience, and qualifications.

In addition to the fixed salary, a performance-based bonus scheme is available, linked to the achievement of agreed targets and results.
