Thread Recruitment is partnering with Straightcurve to find its Head of Strategy & Global Expansion: a strategic partner to the founder, and the person who turns ideas into action.

Straightcurve is a design-led landscape products business, already selling in seven countries. The foundations are built: proven products, automated production, systems designed to scale. Now it needs someone to take it into its next markets, starting with the USA, and own the commercial plan and the results that get it there.

Plenty of people can talk strategy. Very few can make it work. If you’re one of them, keep reading.

What You’ll Be Doing

This is strategy with its sleeves rolled up. You’ll work side by side with Straightcurve’s founder across Australia and its global markets, identifying what’s working and where to focus, and planning what comes next. Then you’ll go and make it happen.

You won’t be starting from scratch. Sales, operations, marketing and international already have strong leaders running them, and they’ll report to you on strategy. Your job is to align them, back them, and turn what they’ve built into momentum.

What that looks like:

  • Owning the group P&L: revenue, margin and cash flow

  • Turning big ideas into clear priorities, plans and results

  • Leading Straightcurve’s expansion into the USA

  • Growing the UK business

  • Scaling Australia, the engine of the business, while keeping it profitable

  • Spotting and validating the next market opportunity

  • Backing the sales, operations, marketing and international leads so they can do their best work

  • Setting priorities across the business so work moves without bottlenecks

  • Building structures that let each market run itself

The role is remote, but it isn’t hands-off. Expect to travel across Australia and overseas a few times a year, spending time on the ground with the people and the work that make Straightcurve run.

Who You Are

You’re a builder with a numbers brain. You’ve owned a P&L, you’ve taken something from an idea to a trading business, and you’d rather be on the ground understanding a market than theorising about it from a boardroom.

You’re calm under pressure and restless for what’s next. A good idea gets you moving, and the data keeps you honest. You challenge with evidence rather than ego, see the risks and find a way around them, and bring a team-first mindset to everything you do.

You’ll ideally bring:

  • Real fluency with P&Ls, balance sheets, budgets and cash flow

  • Proof you’ve built or scaled something: a business, a market or a team

  • A systems mind: you see how the pieces connect and build structure that lasts

  • The ability to lead strong, independent people without micromanaging them

  • Comfort with ambiguity, backed by the judgement to know when to push and when to pause

  • Curiosity about the world, and a drive to always find ways to make things better

  • Permanent Australian work rights

Why Join Straightcurve

Straightcurve is more than it looks. From the outside, it’s a landscape edging business with a serious commitment to sustainability. Inside, it’s a team that’s genuinely passionate about what they do, in a business built to put heart back into work. The people here care about building something bigger than themselves.

You can expect:

  • A seat alongside the founder, with real ownership of the numbers and the growth

  • The chance to grow a global business from a proven base

  • A competitive salary plus super

  • Remote work, with travel across Australia and overseas

  • No corporate hierarchy: decisions sit with the people who hold the information

  • A team that works closely together and genuinely has each other’s back.

  • Room to grow as the business grows
