Role Description The Health & Safety Manager (part-time, remote) will oversee health, safety, and environmental practices related to tourism activities in participating rural villages. This role involves developing and updating health and safety guidelines, conducting remote risk assessments, and supporting inspections carried out by local partners. The manager will review accident and incident reports, lead accident investigation processes, and recommend corrective and preventive actions. Day-to-day tasks include advising stakeholders on occupational health requirements, monitoring compliance with Environment Health and Safety (EHS) standards, preparing concise reports and guidance materials, and collaborating with village representatives and UN Tourism teams to promote safe and sustainable tourism operations.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong Health & Safety and Environment Health and Safety (EHS) skills for tourism and rural development contexts.
- Candidates should possess experience in Occupational Health and practical knowledge of workplace risk assessment and mitigation.
- Candidates should possess proven capabilities in Accident Investigation and incident analysis, including root-cause identification.
- Candidates should possess skills in Inspection and compliance monitoring, preferably in tourism, hospitality, or community settings.
- Relevant degree or professional certification in occupational health, safety, environmental management, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience working with international organizations, rural communities, or development projects is beneficial.
- Strong analytical, communication, and report-writing skills, with the ability to work independently in a remote, multicultural environment.
- Familiarity with global health and safety standards and an understanding of sustainable tourism principles are advantageous.
