At Cuningham, our purpose is to design a better world with deep respect for the real one. With bold, pragmatic creativity, we approach every project grounded in its realities and inspired by its possibilities. That takes curiosity to look beyond the obvious answer, disciplined delivery to work through practical constraints, and humility to keep our client’s goals at the center. Join our team to help create beautiful design that people feel.
As Healthcare Market Leader, Denver, you'll build our healthcare practice in Denver and the greater Denver region: opening doors with health systems and healthcare providers, leading pursuits, and winning new work. The role can be structured two ways:
- Seller-Doer. Licensed architects win the work and serve as a project leader on select projects.
- Business Development. Non-licensed candidates focus fully on selling, then partner with our Healthcare Market Leaders and project teams to transition won work and set them up for success.
You're a highly connected, curious leader with deep relationships in Denver's healthcare community and a track record of turning relationships into revenue.
What You'd Be Doing:
Healthcare Market Growth and Business Development
Set and lead our healthcare growth strategy for the Denver region, deciding which clients, service lines, and relationships to prioritize and where to invest our time.
Build and manage a strong pipeline of healthcare opportunities, getting in front of projects well before RFPs and advancing them from early conversations through contract award.
Develop and deepen relationships with health systems, hospitals, academic medical centers, and ambulatory and behavioral health providers, as well as the owner's reps, contractors, and consultants who influence their decisions.
Stay ahead of the Denver healthcare market, including health system capital and master plans, care delivery trends, funding cycles, and competitor activity, and turn that insight into new opportunities.
Lead priority pursuits from go/no-go decisions and win strategy through proposals and interviews. Build pursuit teams and help them show clients we heard them and why Cuningham is the right call.
Partner with Office Directors, Healthcare Sector Leaders, and firm leadership to coordinate client relationships, align on priorities, and grow our healthcare market share.
Represent Cuningham in Denver's healthcare community through organizations such as ASHE, ACHA, HFMA, and the Colorado Hospital Association, along with conferences, speaking, and networking events.
Contribute to annual healthcare business plans, marketing priorities, and budgets, and keep pipeline, relationship, and pursuit data current in our CRM to support accurate forecasting.
Client and Team Leadership
Transition newly won work to the Healthcare Market Leader and project team, helping set them up for success so commitments made during the pursuit are understood and carried into disciplined delivery.
Act as a trusted advisor to healthcare clients, understanding their business goals and care delivery priorities and solving difficult problems with them, not just for them. Stay connected with key clients to build long-term partnerships and repeat work.
Coach pursuit teams and project leaders on client relationships and pursuit strategy, sharing what you know so we all get better together.
Seller-doer path: serve as a project leader on select healthcare projects, guiding clients and teams from planning and programming through design and construction, and partnering with project managers on scope, schedule, and fee.
