About Bluestone Health

Bluestone Health is building a more connected healthcare experience for employer groups and communities, including people in rural and remote areas where access to coordinated care is often limited. Our model brings together health plan administration, pharmacy benefits, primary care, specialty care, and care coordination so members are not left to navigate a fragmented system on their own.

We use software, data, and responsible AI to make that model work at scale. That includes connecting systems that do not communicate well, helping care teams identify what needs attention, reducing administrative work, and giving members a clearer path through their care. Our goal is not to add another digital layer to healthcare. It is to help make healthcare feel coordinated, responsive, and human.

Our team is small and high-trust. People here take ownership, communicate directly, and follow work through to a confirmed result.

Why Now

As Bluestone adds clients, partners, and services, the number of recurring operational workflows is growing. These workflows often involve spreadsheets, structured files, healthcare data, scheduling, status tracking, and coordination across systems and teams.

This work is essential to running dependable healthcare operations. It needs a dedicated owner who can execute it accurately, spot problems early, keep others informed, and improve the process over time.

The Role

We are looking for a Healthcare Operations Specialist to own recurring workflows that support Bluestone's healthcare products and services.

You will work with spreadsheets and structured data, perform routine data pulls and validations, support EDI and data-quality processes, coordinate scheduling and operational logistics, track open issues, and make sure important tasks reach a documented conclusion. You will also help turn informal processes into clear, repeatable workflows.

This is a hands-on operations role. Success comes from dependable execution, sound judgment, strong organization, and a willingness to investigate when something does not look right. You do not need to be deeply technical, but you should be highly capable with Google Workspace and comfortable working with healthcare information and structured data (i.e. spreadsheets, SOPs).

You will report to a Product Manager and collaborate with product, engineering, clinical, administrative, and external partner teams as needed. Your Product Manager will help set priorities and make product or business decisions. You will be expected to own execution and follow-through within those priorities.

What You'll Own

  • Recurring operations: Run scheduled workflows such as data pulls, file preparation, merges, validation checks, status updates, and routine follow-up.
  • Spreadsheet and file work: Organize, compare, and update information across Google Sheets, CSV files, and other structured sources.
  • Data-quality support: Identify missing, duplicated, inconsistent, or unexpected information in EDI and related operational data, document what you find, and route issues to the right owner.
  • Scheduling and coordination: Coordinate appointments, resources, timelines, and operational logistics across internal teams and external partners.
  • Issue follow-through: Maintain clear lists of open items, identify the next action and owner, follow up when needed, and confirm that the final result was completed.
  • Process documentation: Create and maintain straightforward instructions, checklists, and runbooks for recurring work.
  • Operational visibility: Provide concise updates on completed work, outstanding issues, upcoming deadlines, and items requiring a decision.
  • Process improvement: Identify repetitive or error-prone steps, improve them where practical, and help product or engineering teams understand where better tooling or automation would be valuable.
  • Privacy and security: Handle protected health information and other sensitive data only through approved systems, devices, and procedures.

What Good Looks Like

  • Recurring tasks happen on time without repeated reminders.
  • Files and spreadsheets are accurate, organized, and understandable to someone other than their creator.
  • Discrepancies are supported by examples and routed to the right person rather than passed along vaguely.
  • Open items have a clear owner, next action, and expected resolution date.
  • A task is not considered complete until the result is confirmed and documented.
  • Processes become easier to repeat and less dependent on individual memory.
  • Product managers and specialists receive the information they need to make decisions without losing time reconstructing what happened.

Role Scope

You will support technical and data-related operations, but you will not be expected to design integration architecture, build production data pipelines, or debug complex software failures independently. You will also not be responsible for claims-performance analysis, savings methodology, or making unapproved decisions about eligibility, benefits, clinical care, or source-data mappings.

When an issue requires technical, product, clinical, or business judgment, your responsibility is to assemble the relevant evidence, escalate it clearly, and help drive the approved resolution to completion.

Current Environment

Our current tools and workflows include:

  • Google Workspace, including Sheets, Docs, Drive, and Gmail
  • Spreadsheets and structured files such as CSV
  • Healthcare eligibility, enrollment, EDI, and related operational information
  • Internal validation, reconciliation, exception-tracking, and documentation workflows that are continuing to mature

You do not need experience with every system Bluestone uses. You do need strong spreadsheet fluency, practical healthcare-operations experience, attention to detail, and the discipline to follow an issue through final closure.

What We're Looking For

Required

  • Experience working in a medical, clinical, health-plan, or related healthcare environment in an operational, scheduling, administrative, or coordination role.
  • Strong day-to-day proficiency with Google Workspace, particularly Sheets, Docs, and Drive.
  • Comfort using spreadsheet formulas and working with structured files such as CSV.
  • Experience organizing, comparing, merging, or validating information from multiple sources.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail across recurring and time-sensitive work.
  • Ability to work independently within clear priorities and complete tasks without continuous direction.
  • Strong written communication and reliable follow-through with internal teams and external partners.
  • Sound judgment about when to resolve an issue independently and when to escalate it.
  • Comfort working with protected health information and other sensitive data under defined privacy and security controls.
  • Residence in the United States, with substantial working-hour overlap with the U.S. Pacific team.

Strongly Preferred

  • Experience with scheduling, resource coordination, medical-office operations, health-plan operations, or clinical administration.
  • Experience with healthcare eligibility, enrollment, claims, EDI, or data-quality workflows.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA, protected health information, and basic privacy and security controls.
  • Experience documenting workflows, maintaining checklists, or creating operational runbooks.
  • A record of improving manual processes, reducing errors, or making recurring work easier to track.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working with healthcare data exchange formats or recurring partner files.
  • Experience supporting product, implementation, engineering, or data teams.
  • Experience in a small company where responsibilities are broad and processes are still being developed.
  • Familiarity with responsible use of approved AI tools for documentation, comparison, or other routine work.

How We Work

  • Close the loop. Work is complete when the result has been processed, confirmed, and documented.
  • Escalate with evidence. Include examples, the expected result, the actual result, the affected population or workflow, and the required next action.
  • Do not invent rules. Raise unclear eligibility, mapping, benefit, or clinical questions rather than making convenient assumptions.
  • Prioritize impact. A patient-access risk or large unexpected eligibility change is not handled like a harmless formatting issue.
  • Document recurring work. Clear instructions and checklists make operations more reliable and create a foundation for future improvement.
  • Communicate directly. Make it clear what is missing, who owns the next action, and when resolution is needed.
  • Improve thoughtfully. Look for ways to reduce repetitive work while maintaining accuracy, privacy, and appropriate human oversight.

Why This Role

  • Meaningful operational impact: Your work helps healthcare processes run accurately and reliably for members, care teams, clients, and partners.
  • Clear ownership: Take responsibility for important recurring workflows and see them through from start to finish.
  • Healthcare mission: Apply your operational experience to a model designed to make healthcare more connected and accessible.
  • Room to improve the work: Help replace informal routines with clearer processes, better visibility, and practical automation opportunities.
  • Small team, high trust: Work closely with product managers and specialists without layers of handoffs.
  • Growth through breadth: Gain exposure to healthcare operations, product workflows, data quality, and cross-functional problem-solving.

Security and Compliance

This role will involve protected health information and other sensitive data. The selected candidate must complete required security, privacy, and HIPAA training, follow Bluestone's access and security policies, and work only through approved devices, systems, and access methods.

Expected Hiring Process

  1. Application or recruiter introduction: Resume and brief background information.
  2. Screening conversation: Healthcare operations experience, working hours, and mutual questions.
  3. Practical exercise: A time-bounded exercise using synthetic or representative spreadsheet data and operational workflows. The exercise will assess accuracy, organization, judgment, and communication.
  4. Working session: Review the exercise and discuss how you approach recurring tasks, discrepancies, prioritization, and follow-through.
  5. Final conversation: Remaining questions, logistics, and offer discussion.

We aim to complete the interview process in approximately two weeks once interviews begin.

How to Apply

Send your resume and a brief note. In your note, tell us:

  • Why this role interests you.
  • About an operational or process problem you personally improved and how you knew the improvement worked.
  • Your location, time zone, and availability.

We review applications personally. We do not use automated keyword screening to decide who gets considered.
