APM Market Access is an independent, subscription-based news agency specialising in pharmaceutical market access, healthcare policy, regulation, pricing and reimbursement. Our reporting serves a global audience of pharmaceutical industry executives, healthcare professionals, regulators and consultants.

As we continue to strengthen our coverage across Asia, we are looking for a Japan-based freelance correspondent with strong local expertise and a passion for healthcare journalism.

The assignment

Working with our international editorial team, you will:

· Monitor and report on key developments in Japan's pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors, particularly regulatory affairs, drug pricing, reimbursement, market access and healthcare policy.

· Cover decisions and initiatives from Japanese health authorities, including the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) and the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency (PMDA).

· Identify and develop original stories of interest to an international professional readership.

· Conduct interviews with industry representatives, policymakers, regulators and other key stakeholders.

· Produce accurate, insightful and timely news articles in English.

Your profile

· Proven experience in journalism, ideally covering pharmaceuticals, healthcare, public policy or business.

· Strong understanding of Japan's healthcare system and pharmaceutical industry.

· Excellent command of Japanese and strong written English, with the ability to deliver publication-ready articles.

· An established network of contacts within the Japanese healthcare or pharmaceutical sector would be a significant advantage.

· Ability to work independently, identify newsworthy developments and meet editorial deadlines.

What we offer

· A flexible freelance collaboration, with the scope and frequency of contributions to be agreed.

· The opportunity to contribute to an established international news service with a specialised professional readership.

· Close collaboration with an experienced international editorial team covering healthcare and pharmaceutical markets worldwide.
