About Us

Annex Risk is a digital wholesaler and managing general agent bringing admitted-market speed to specialty property insurance. We help retail insurance agencies place homeowners and flood coverage, with a focus on higher-value homes and properties exposed to natural catastrophes. By combining insurance expertise with technology, we make specialty capacity easier to access and business faster and simpler to quote, bind, and service.

We’re a small, fast-growing company where people have meaningful ownership over their work and a direct role in shaping our products, operations, and growth. You’ll work alongside a resourceful team of insurance and technology professionals that values clear communication, accountability, and trust.

The Role

Annex Risk is hiring a Production Underwriter to grow our High Value Homeowners business through strong producer relationships, sound underwriting judgment, and hands-on placement support.

You’ll develop relationships with retail agents, identify and pursue opportunities, evaluate submissions, and make underwriting decisions within delegated authority. You’ll also work closely with our Product, Engineering, and Underwriting teams to improve the offering based on what you learn in the market.

Annex’s large and growing agent base across homeowners and flood provides an established foundation for developing high-value homeowners production. You’ll build on that foundation and your own industry relationships, supported by Annex’s technology, underwriting capabilities, and broader distribution team.

Success means building a profitable High Value Homeowners book, growing submissions and bound production through repeat trading relationships, and establishing Annex as a market that producers consistently turn to.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop producer relationships. Grow adoption among targeted retail agents and agency partners, both within Annex’s existing agent base and through new market development.
  • Generate and qualify opportunities. Proactively seek submissions and help agents understand appetite, coverage fit, submission requirements, and when to use Annex.
  • Underwrite submissions. Evaluate incoming opportunities, make underwriting decisions within delegated authority, and coordinate additional review where required.
  • Own the opportunity pipeline. Manage submission and producer follow-up, move opportunities toward a decision, and understand why business binds, declines, or stalls.
  • Support placements directly. Prepare quotes in Annex’s platform using information gathered from producers and help agents navigate the placement process.
  • Coordinate referrals. Work with our London reinsurance broker to obtain sign-off when limits exceed in-house authority.
  • Develop opportunities within the existing book. Identify mass-affluent renewal accounts that may be better suited to High Value Homeowners and facilitate transitions where appropriate.
  • Build producer engagement. Lead product training, office hours, targeted outreach, and in-person visits with key producers and prospects.
  • Improve the product and trading experience. Identify barriers to production and work with Product, Engineering, and Underwriting on appetite, coverage, workflow, tooling, and turnaround times.
  • Help shape market strategy. Bring feedback on pricing, competition, and agent needs; develop useful agent-facing materials; and help refine how Annex reaches and serves high-value homeowners producers.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in high-value homeowners or private client insurance.
  • Strong understanding of how higher-value homeowners risks are evaluated and placed, particularly when admitted or traditional private-client markets have limited appetite.
  • An established network of retail agents or brokers in the high-value homeowners market, with an interest in building on those relationships to grow Annex’s business.
  • Underwriting judgment and the ability to balance risk selection with commercial opportunity.
  • Ability to communicate credibly with retail agents about appetite, coverage, underwriting considerations, and placement strategy.
  • A proactive approach to developing relationships, pursuing submissions, and building repeat production.
  • Strong organization and follow-through, with the ability to manage opportunities from initial conversation through placement.
  • Comfort working in an early-stage business where you can influence the product, processes, and market strategy.
  • Interest in helping build a business and market presence.
