(HQ) (Sr.) Backend Engineer

The Senior Backend Engineer designs and builds our APIs with Python. Beyond shipping features, this role contributes to architectural decisions, maintains a high quality bar through reviews and standards, and drives AI-augmented development practices to scale team productivity. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES About Our Team: A PI-First Backend: We build our high-performance backend APIs using Python and the Flask framework. Modern Git Workflow: We use GitHub Enterprise for version control, adhering to a robust development flow that includes Feature Branches, Pull Requests, and Semantic Tagging. Agile & Documentation: We rely on Jira for agile issue tracking and Confluence for comprehensive technical documentation. Automated CI/CD: Our CI/CD pipelines are powered by Jenkins (CI) and Ansible (CD) to ensure seamless and automated deployments. Cloud-Native Infrastructure : Our system architecture is fully hosted on AWS, leveraging various cloud-native services to build scalable platforms. AI-Driven Development : AI-augmented development is deeply integrated into our daily routine; leveraging tools like Claude Code is second nature to us. Role & Responsibilities: In this position, we are looking for a team member who enjoys learning various languages and is open to taking on any development tasks. Your role will be responsible to: (50%) Design & Develop Design system flow and mechanism to achieve module requirement and maintenance. Optimize system flow and re-factor core module (20%) Code Quality & Engineering Discipline Conduct deep code reviews focused on architecture, performance, and maintainability. Enforcing backend coding standards and maintaining clean architectural boundaries (separation of concerns). Investigating, debugging, and resolving backend-related production incidents efficiently. (20%) AI-Augmented Development Use AI coding tools (Claude Code) productively and judge output quality. Design team workflows around AI: prompt templates, custom skills, workflow. (10%) Knowledge Sharing & Collaboration Share knowledge through reviews, tech talks, or written docs. Collaborating cross-functionally with Frontend, DevOps, Data, and Product Management (PM) teams. ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS Education/Technical Skills Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent work experience may be considered in place of a formal degree. Expert in Python, SQL, and cloud-native infrastructure. Hands-on experience with Git/GitHub (Pull Request Flow) and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar). Productive use of AI coding tools, with judgment to review and correct AI output. Knowledge/Work Experience 3+ years of backend development. Proven experience shipping and maintaining production backend service at scale. Track record of leading technical initiatives end-to-end.
