At Egis, we help shape the infrastructure that keeps communities connected and moving. As a leading global consulting, construction engineering and operating firm, we work with clients across transport, energy and the built environment to create a more balanced, sustainable and resilient world.
With more than 50 years of experience and around 25,500 people in over 70 countries, we combine global expertise with a people-first culture. In the UK and Ireland, our teams deliver and operate some of the country’s most important infrastructure, including highways, rail, energy, water and smart infrastructure, while supporting climate-responsible growth for communities, industry and the planet.
We are looking for a proactive and commercially minded HR Advisor to provide a responsive, people-focused HR service across our Operations & Maintenance business, with particular support for the M25 and Mobiie contracts.
Working closely with managers, employees, contract stakeholders, People Operations and the wider HR team, you will provide practical advice throughout the employee lifecycle. This is a varied, hands-on opportunity for an HR professional who can combine sound judgement and strong relationships with a clear understanding of legal, employee and operational priorities.
What you will do
- Provide clear, pragmatic HR advice to managers and employees across the Operations & Maintenance business
- Coach and support managers through employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, capability, performance and sickness absence cases
- Support employee lifecycle activity, including recruitment, onboarding, payroll, immigration and visa administration, and offboarding
- Interpret HR policies and employment legislation, recommending proportionate and commercially practical solutions
- Maintain accurate HR records and contribute to management information, reports and presentations
- Build trusted relationships with contract stakeholders, People Operations and colleagues across the wider HR team
- Support the consistent delivery of HR policies, initiatives and projects across the business
You will be a credible and approachable HR professional who builds trust quickly and communicates advice clearly. You will be comfortable working independently, managing competing priorities and handling sensitive information with discretion.
- CIPD Level 5 qualification or equivalent demonstrable HR experience
- Experience in an HR Advisor or comparable generalist role within a complex, operational or multi-site environment
- Practical experience supporting employee relations casework
- Sound working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
- Strong coaching, influencing and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to support and constructively challenge managers
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to make complex matters practical and accessible
- Strong organisation, accuracy and responsiveness, with effective case-management and prioritisation skills
- Experience maintaining HR records, producing management information and supporting regular reporting
- Confidence using HR systems and Microsoft Office applications; Oracle experience would be advantageous
This role supports operational contracts and requires regular collaboration with managers, employees and stakeholders across the Operations & Maintenance business. Flexibility to travel to relevant contract or office locations when required is important. You may also support wider HR priorities and projects as business needs evolve.
