The HR Assistant supports a variety of HR functions, including recruiting, onboarding, employee support, data management, and process improvement initiatives. This position provides hands-on experience and opportunities to build valuable skills in communication, problem-solving, customer service, and business operations.

This position offers more than a typical student job. You'll gain practical, resume-building experience while contributing to projects that support employees throughout their employment journey and learning directly from experienced HR professionals.

Important Note:
This position is based at the BYU-Pathway Worldwide headquarters in Salt Lake City, Utah. By applying, you confirm that you are currently authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship, reside in Utah and are able to work onsite 2–4 days per week.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support recruiting and hiring activities, including applicant communication, interview scheduling, and hiring processes.
  • Assist with onboarding and employee transitions to help create a positive employee experience.
  • Respond to employee and applicant questions in a timely, professional, and service-oriented manner.
  • Review and maintain HR records and documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Handle confidential employee information with discretion and sound judgment.
  • Assist with special projects, events, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Support HR team goals through collaboration, effective communication, and reliable execution of assigned work.

  • Maintain accurate and organized HR records and documentation.

Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled at a Church Educational System institution (BYU, BYU-Idaho, BYU-Hawaii, Ensign College, or BYU-Pathway Worldwide).
  • Reside in Utah.
  • Available to work up to 20 hours per week during business hours (Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.), including 2-4 in-office days per week (Monday through Thursday).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and general computer systems.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive information.

  • Experience working with databases, spreadsheets, or business systems.
  • Bilingual language skills.
