The University of Virginia is seeking several experienced HR professionals to join our UVA Health Human Resources team in newly created HR Business Partner/Senior HR Business Partner roles. Successful candidates will combine strong HR knowledge with business acumen and an ability to understand the unique needs, culture, workforce dynamics, and objectives of a complex healthcare environment. These roles require individuals who are comfortable balancing strategic partnership with hands-on problem-solving and who can build credibility with leaders at multiple levels of the organization. HR Business Partners must be available to work onsite based on the needs of their assigned client areas, including meetings, consultations, employee matters, and other business needs. Responsibilities HR Business Partners/Senior HR Business Partners will: Build strong, trusted relationships with leaders and managers and serve as a primary HR advisor for assigned client areas. Partner with leaders to understand business priorities, workforce needs, organizational challenges, and opportunities, and translate those needs into HR solutions for assigned client areas. Provide guidance and coaching to leaders on performance management, employee relations, workforce planning, organizational effectiveness, career development, and other people-related matters. Apply and reinforce performance management and employee relations practices using established HR approaches, including coaching, counseling, career development, and disciplinary processes. Collaborate with HR Communities of Expertise ( CoEs ) and other HR partners to implement programs, processes, and initiatives effectively within assigned business areas. Support organizational and workforce changes and help leaders successfully communicate and implement change. Facilitate clinical, departmental, or unit-specific onboarding activities, as appropriate . Provide interpretation and guidance regarding University and UVA Health policies, practices, processes, and applicable employment laws and regulations. Partner with leaders, Finance, HR colleagues, and CoEs to support workforce planning, headcount management, and other business needs. Identify trends, risks, and opportunities within assigned client areas and recommend solutions that strengthen the employee experience and advance organizational objectives . Maintain a strong understanding of the assigned business areas, including their workforce, culture, engagement, financial considerations, operational environment, and strategic objectives . Contribute to the continuous improvement of HR programs, practices, and service delivery across UVA Health. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Education HS Diploma Preferred Education B achelor’s degree Required Experience HR Business Partner candidates must have a minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience. Senior HR Business Partner candidates must have a minimum of eight years (8) of relevant professional experience. Preferred Experience Demonstrated experience providing HR consultation, guidance, and support to organizational leaders. Strong knowledge of human resources practices and employment-related policies and regulations. Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships, exercise sound judgment, navigate complex situations, and influence effectively across multiple levels of an organization. Strong communication , collaboration, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Experience supporting healthcare, academic medical centers, higher education, or similarly complex organizations is preferred. Certifications The following certifications are preferred: SHRM-CP SPHR Certified in Healthcare Human Resources (CHHR) Physical Demands: This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs. The successful candidate will be required to complete a background check and health screening.
