Dublin | Hybrid, three days a week in the office, full time, permanent

Overview

Our client, an established HR consultancy, is hiring an HR consultant (Generalist/Advisor level) with an employee relations focus into its consulting team. The role is there to give client organisations practical advice on employee relations and HR, and to manage each of those relationships day to day.

What’s on offer

  • Hybrid working, three days a week in the office, full time
  • €45,000 to €55,000 salary
  • Support from the business to stay current on changes in legislation and new case law
  • Career development opportunities within the business

About the business

Our client is a well-established Irish HR consultancy whose advisors cover employment law and employee relations for organisations in many different sectors.

The role

This is a mid senior-level consulting role with your own portfolio of clients spread across different sectors. You’ll be their first point of contact, so the work ranges from everyday HR queries to scoped consultancy projects, and you’ll deal with leadership teams, HR managers, line managers and staff. Investigations are run with senior consultants, and the role also carries a commercial element, writing proposals and growing the work you do for existing clients. Travel is part of the job.

What you’ll be doing

  • Getting to know each client’s business and goals, and building lasting relationships with the people who make decisions there
  • Advising clients on HR issues and their legal obligations at every stage of employment, from absence and performance issues to contracts, complaints and discipline
  • Working through complex employee relations cases with clients and helping them settle on the right policy and approach
  • Preparing and checking the paperwork that carries an employee relations case through to resolution, keeping the client compliant and protected
  • Taking part in grievance, bullying and harassment investigations, and in appeals and disciplinary processes, with your role (coordinating, taking notes or leading) matched to your experience
  • Running consultancy projects to the scope, cost and timings agreed with the client
  • Designing and running HR training sessions for leadership teams, line managers and staff, online or face to face
  • Letting clients know when the law or good practice moves on, so their policies and procedures can be brought into line
  • Identifying where a client needs more support and putting together proposals to meet it
  • Keeping clients informed about how work is progressing, any risks and the results, and flagging concerns or changes in scope early
  • Passing client feedback on to colleagues and suggesting ways to improve the service
  • Recording your time and advice accurately so client billing and records stay up to date

What we’re looking for

Essential:

  • Degree-qualified, ideally with an HR focus
  • 3+ years’ experience in HR or employment law, gained in-house, in a legal setting or in HR consultancy
  • Hands-on experience of a wide mix of employee relations and industrial relations matters, alongside broader HR work
  • In-depth knowledge of HR practice and employment law in Ireland
  • A full driving licence with a clean record, and use of a car, as the role involves travel

Desirable:

  • Progress towards a postgraduate qualification in employment law (for example the Law Society diploma) or an MBA
  • CIPD qualification
