About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and proactive HR Generalist to support our growing Australia and New Zealand business.

This is a true HR generalist role combining business partnering, HR operations, payroll coordination, employee engagement and office administration. You will act as one of the trusted HR partners to managers and employees, providing practical advice on day-to-day people matters while taking ownership of HR operations, payroll coordination, employee engagement initiatives and business improvement projects.

Working closely with the HR Manager and cross-functional leaders, you'll help create a positive employee experience while ensuring our HR, payroll and office operations run efficiently. You will work closely with managers across our corporate and retail teams, providing support on day-to-day people matters, employee relations matters, payroll activities and employee lifecycle processes.

HR Operations

  • Manage end-to-end onboarding and offboarding processes through Workday
  • Prepare employment contracts, letters and HR documentation
  • Maintain HRIS systems and ensure employee records remain accurate and compliant
  • Coordinate probation reviews, contract changes and employee lifecycle administration
  • Support recruitment activities including interview coordination, candidate management and onboarding processes
  • Prepare HR reports and maintain HR compliance documentation
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes and employee experience

Payroll Coordination

  • Coordinate and process payroll for office and retail employees in partnership with ADP
  • Prepare, review and submit payroll changes including new starters, terminations, salary changes, leave transactions and employee data updates
  • Review payroll reports and validation checks to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance
  • Manage end-of-month payroll reporting and payroll reconciliations
  • Lodge payroll tax and coordinate superannuation administration in accordance with legislative requirements
  • Respond to payroll-related enquiries from employees and managers, liaising with ADP where required
  • Maintain accurate employee records within Workday to support payroll processing and compliance
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls and data accuracy

Employee Engagement

  • Drive employee engagement initiatives and wellbeing programs
  • Coordinate employee events, celebrations and recognition programs
  • Support internal communications and company-wide announcements
  • Coordinate learning and development activities and HR workshops
  • Assist with implementation of HR initiatives and regional projects


HR Business Partnering

  • Act as one of the first points of contact for managers and employees on day-to-day HR matters
  • Provide practical guidance on performance management, attendance, probation, employee relations and workplace issues
  • Support employee relations matters, including investigations, disciplinary processes and documentation in accordance with company policies and employment legislation
  • Coach managers on HR policies, best practices and people management
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across Australia and New Zealand


Office Administration & Business Support

  • Oversee day-to-day office administration and workplace operations
  • Coordinate office facilities, maintenance and vendor relationships
  • Manage office assets, supplies and equipment
  • Support office relocation and workplace improvement projects
  • Process HR and office-related invoices and maintain administrative records


About You

  • You'll thrive in this role if you enjoy balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
  • We are looking for someone who has:
  • 3+ years' experience in a HR Generalist, HR Operations, HR Business Partner or Payroll/HR role
  • Strong understanding of Australian employment practices and employee lifecycle management
  • Experience supporting managers with employee relations matters, including performance management, probation, workplace issues and policy interpretation
  • Demonstrated experience handling sensitive people matters with professionalism, sound judgement and discretion
  • Experience coordinating or processing payroll, including payroll reporting, payroll tax and superannuation obligations
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • High attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • A proactive mindset with a willingness to take ownership and continuously improve processes
  • Experience supporting frontline, workforce-intensive environments such as retail, hospitality, QSR, logistics, healthcare or other multi-site operations is highly regarded
  • Experience using HRIS platforms, preferably Workday, and Microsoft Office

Location

  • Based in our Sydney CBD office
  • This role requires you to be on-site, with some flexible working arrangements (4 days in office, 1 day WFH)
