Position summary

We are a small HR technology consulting firm. We help employers and their benefits partners run their HR systems, processes and people practices.

The HR & HRIS Coordinator keeps our client work moving. You will handle core HR coordination tasks, troubleshoot basic HRIS issues, and support our senior consultants on projects. You may also respond to client HR teams directly. The work moves fast across several clients, so you must be quick, accurate and organized.

This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports, and it has a clear path toward a specialist or consultant role as your skills grow.

Key responsibilities

HR coordination and generalist support

• Create and maintain employee records and HR files in client systems, keeping them accurate and audit-ready

• Coordinate onboarding and offboarding, including new hire paperwork, I-9 and E-Verify, system setup and exit steps

• Process employee changes such as job, pay, status and address updates

• Support benefits administration: enrollments, qualifying life events, eligibility questions and carrier follow-up

• Track leaves of absence (FMLA, ADA, state leave) and keep documentation current

• Coordinate recruiting support, such as posting jobs, scheduling interviews and running reference checks

• Answer routine employee and manager questions about policies, benefits and HR processes, escalating when needed

• Help maintain handbooks, policies and required compliance postings

• Collect data and prepare HR reports, such as headcount, turnover and open enrollment status

HRIS troubleshooting

• Serve as first-line support for basic HRIS issues: user access and passwords, stuck workflows or approvals, data entry errors and missing records

• Diagnose whether an issue is user error, a data problem or a system configuration problem, and fix or escalate it with clear details

• Run and adjust standard reports, and spot data that looks wrong

• Log and track support tickets through resolution

• Write simple how-to guides for common issues

Consultant and project support

• Support senior consultants on implementations, audits and open enrollment projects

• Prepare data for loads and audits; clean up spreadsheets and reconcile data across systems

• Run test scripts and document results during system testing

• Take meeting notes, track action items and keep project trackers current

• Draft documentation, job aids and client communications for senior review

Client support

• Respond to client HR team requests by email and phone within set timelines

• Keep clients updated on open items and confirm when issues are resolved

• By 90 days: resolves most basic HRIS issues on their own and supports consultants on at least one project

Requirements

• 2–3 years of experience as an HR coordinator, HR assistant, HR generalist or similar role

• Hands-on experience with at least one HRIS or HCM system (for example Workday, UKG, ADP Workforce Now, Paylocity, Paycom, Rippling or BambooHR), including data entry and basic reporting

Preferred

• Experience in a consulting, PEO or HR outsourcing setting serving several clients
