This is a remote (work-from-home) position, but you must be available to work New York business hours (Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM Eastern Time) and have fluent English proficiency.
Position Summary
The HR Manager supports day-to-day HR and business operations for employees across multiple states. This role helps keep the team organized, ensures employee requests and operational tasks are completed accurately and timely, and identifies opportunities to improve processes and efficiency.
The ideal candidate has a foundation in the U.S. HR operations, is organized, patient, technology-savvy, and eager to continue learning and developing. This person should be comfortable researching unfamiliar issues, learning new processes, and understanding when a matter should be escalated for additional guidance.
Key Responsibilities
HR & Business Operations
• Support day-to-day HR and business operations for a multi-state workforce.
• Help maintain organized workflows, priorities, documentation, and follow-up.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and reduce unnecessary manual work.
• Create and maintain procedures, reference materials, and process documentation.
• Assist with training and cross-training team members on established processes.
• Provide clear and patient guidance to team members and employees.
HR Helpdesk & Employee Support
• Respond to and manage employee inquiries through the HR helpdesk/ticketing system.
• Monitor open requests and ensure timely follow-up and resolution.
• Research employee questions and provide accurate information or escalate when additional guidance is needed.
• Identify recurring questions and help develop templates, FAQs, and employee resources.
Unemployment Claims
• Assist with unemployment claims processing and employer response requirements.
• Gather employment records and supporting documentation.
• Track deadlines and coordinate with third-party unemployment administrators as needed.
Systems & Process Improvement
• Learn and use HRIS, payroll, timekeeping, benefits, leave, ticketing, and other operational systems.
• Troubleshoot basic system and process issues.
• Learn new systems quickly and assist with training other users.
• Support system testing, implementations, reporting, and process changes.
• Look for opportunities to use technology and automation to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Requirements:
• 2–4 years of experience in HR operations, business operations, HR administration, or a related area preferred.
• Familiarity with U.S. HR practices and multi-state employment requirements.
• Working knowledge of FMLA and familiarity with state leave and sick leave programs.
• Familiarity with unemployment claims and employee relations processes.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Technology-savvy with the ability to learn new systems quickly.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Patient and able to explain processes clearly to others.
• Able to research unfamiliar issues and apply guidance to day-to-day situations.
• Good judgment and understanding of when to handle an issue independently and when to escalate for guidance.
• Able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Collaborative, adaptable, solutions-oriented, and eager to learn and grow.
• Reliable home office and Windows computer setup with seamless internet access
