Overview
Ready to take the next step in your HR career? At Screwfix, we're on an exciting journey of growth and transformation, and this is your opportunity to be part of it.
We're looking for a proactive, commercially minded HR Manager who loves variety, thrives on change and wants to make a real impact.
Working alongside our Senior HR Business Partner, you'll have the opportunity to build strong relationships with leaders across our Head Office teams, influence key decisions and help shape the future of our business through our people.
You'll get involved in everything from organisational design and change projects to continuous improvement and wider people initiatives. With plenty of scope to share your ideas, challenge existing ways of working and take ownership, you'll have the freedom to really make your mark.
If you're looking for a role where no two days are the same, where your ideas are valued and where you can continue to grow your HR partnering skills, this could be the perfect next step for you.
What's in it for you?
- Discretionary annual bonus up to 20%
- 33 days' holiday (including bank holidays, 5 of which can be taken flexibly)
- Hybrid working with up to 2 days working from home
- Flexible start and end times around core working hours
- Buy More Holiday - eligible colleagues can boost their holiday allowance by up to one extra week
- EV Car Scheme in Partnership with Tusker - eligible colleagues can lease a brand-new or pre-loved electric vehicle
- Up to 14% employer pension contributions
- Life cover up to 4x your salary
- Health cash plan and discounted gym memberships (up to 25% savings)
- 20% discount at Screwfix and B&Q
Responsibilities
What you'll be doing
- Making change happen: Supporting organisational design and transformation projects, helping our teams navigate change and ensuring we have the right structures in place for the future.
- Bringing people plans to life: Working with business leaders and the Senior HR Business Partner to deliver people initiatives that support our commercial priorities.
- Spotting opportunities to do things better: Challenging existing processes, bringing fresh thinking and driving continuous improvement across our people practices.
- Being a trusted partner: Coaching and supporting managers through people challenges, helping them make confident decisions and build high-performing teams.
- Developing our talent: Supporting performance, talent and succession planning, helping us identify and develop the people who will drive our future success.
- Keeping things moving: Taking ownership of key HR activities, including engagement surveys, reward processes, employee relations and other cyclical people activity, making sure things are followed through and delivered.
Qualifications
You'll ideally bring:
- Broad HR generalist experience, ideally gained in a fast-paced, commercial OR retail environment.
- Experience supporting organisational change, with an interest in organisational design and continuous improvement.
- The confidence to coach, influence and constructively challenge managers and stakeholders.
- Good working knowledge of employee relations and UK employment legislation.
- Experience supporting talent, performance and engagement activities.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to juggle competing priorities and see things through to completion.
- A proactive mindset, sound judgement and the confidence to spot opportunities and take ownership.
A CIPD Level 5 qualification, or working towards one, would be great, but we're just as interested in your experience, approach and what you can bring to the team.
