# Senior Human Resources Manager
## About the Role
Visión y Compromiso is seeking an experienced **Senior Human Resources Manager** to serve as the organization’s senior HR leader and trusted advisor to executive leadership. Reporting to the Executive Director, this role will help establish and strengthen HR systems, support organizational growth, and create a positive employee experience across the organization.
The Senior Human Resources Manager will oversee a broad range of HR functions, including recruitment and onboarding, leadership development, performance management, employee relations, workplace investigations, compensation and benefits, leave and disability management, workers’ compensation, and employment law compliance. The role will also help strengthen leadership capability, organizational culture, and consistent management practices across a California-based nonprofit organization of approximately 170 employees and 30 supervisors.
## Key Responsibilities
### Strategic Human Resources Leadership
* Serve as the senior Human Resources professional and trusted advisor to executive leadership.
* Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with organizational priorities and long-term sustainability.
* Build scalable HR systems and processes to support organizational growth.
* Analyze workforce trends and recommend practical solutions to improve organizational effectiveness.
* Build strong partnerships with organizational leaders.
### Organizational Development & Change Management
* Lead organizational change initiatives while supporting the organization’s mission and values.
* Assess organizational effectiveness and recommend improvements to structure, communication, and workforce practices.
* Help leaders navigate organizational change with transparency and empathy.
* Support employee engagement and organizational culture initiatives.
* Champion continuous improvement across Human Resources.
### Leadership Development
* Design and implement programs to strengthen manager and supervisor effectiveness.

* Conduct prompt, impartial, and thorough workplace investigations involving employee complaints, policy violations, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and other sensitive matters.
* Prepare investigative findings and recommendations.
* Advise leadership on corrective action and organizational risk.
* Promote respectful and productive workplace relationships.
### Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
* Lead recruitment strategies to attract diverse, mission-driven talent.
* Partner with hiring managers throughout the recruitment process.
* Strengthen onboarding practices.
* Develop employee retention strategies that support engagement and organizational stability.
### Performance Management
* Lead the organization’s performance management program.
* Coach supervisors on expectations, feedback, performance documentation, and performance concerns.
* Develop performance improvement strategies that support employee success and accountability.
### Compensation, Benefits & Total Rewards
* Administer compensation and classification programs.
* Conduct salary analyses and recommend equitable compensation practices.
* Oversee employee benefits administration.
* Partner with vendors and brokers on benefit programs.
### Leave Administration, ADA/FEHA & Workers’ Compensation
* Ensure compliance with applicable leave laws.
* Lead the interactive process and reasonable accommodation program.
* Oversee disability management and return-to-work efforts.
* Coordinate workers’ compensation administration and modified-duty programs.
### Employment Law & Compliance
* Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws.
* Maintain HR policies, procedures, and the employee handbook.

* Partner with legal counsel when appropriate.
* Reduce organizational risk through proactive HR practices.

## Required Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, Public Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Seven or more years of progressively responsible Human Resources experience with broad generalist responsibilities.
* Significant experience conducting complex workplace investigations.
* Demonstrated experience leading organizational change and culture transformation initiatives.
* Experience coaching managers and developing leadership capabilities.
* Strong working knowledge of California employment law, including:
* Wage and hour requirements

* Workers’ compensation

* Excellent judgment, discretion, and interpersonal skills.
## Preferred Qualifications
* SHRM-SCP, SHRM-CP, SPHR, or PHR certification.
