The Opportunity
The HR & Talent Specialist supports hiring and employee programs across K12 Coalition, with recruiting as the primary focus. Once the Senior HR & Talent Manager and a hiring leader establish a role and hiring plan, you’ll manage the day-to-day process. You’ll coordinate selection steps, keep candidates and hiring teams informed, and carry the work through an accepted offer and new hire handoff.
You’ll also help deliver HR programs such as performance reviews, engagement initiatives, and talent reviews. Reporting to the Senior HR & Talent Manager, you’ll take responsibility for assigned processes, solve routine issues, and raise questions or recommendations when a decision is needed. You’ll often be one of a candidate’s first contacts at K12 Coalition, so clear communication and reliable follow-through are central to the role.
What You’ll Do
Talent Acquisition and Candidate Experience
-
Support hiring plans established by the Senior HR & Talent Manager, keeping assigned searches organized and moving forward from posting through offer.
-
Be a thoughtful, responsive point of contact for candidates and hiring teams, coordinating each step and keeping people informed along the way.
-
Organize candidate information and screening results, prepare job-related summaries for the Senior HR & Talent Manager, and flag anything that needs closer review.
-
Anticipate what each search needs next, address delays, and suggest ways to improve the hiring and candidate experience.
HR Programs and Employee Experience
-
Help deliver performance, engagement, talent review, and other HR programs through clear communications, organized materials, and dependable follow-through.
-
Administer approved employee agreements and assigned new hire and employee program steps, bringing substantive questions or exceptions to the Senior HR & Talent Manager.
-
Keep employee information accurate and confidential while taking responsibility for assigned work and keeping your manager informed.
Other Duties
-
Support the team with additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to help meet evolving organizational goals and objectives.
-
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Development, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
-
At least two years of experience in HR, recruiting coordination, talent operations, or related work, including at least one year directly supporting hiring processes and communicating with candidates.
-
Experience coordinating multiple active searches and maintaining accurate candidate information in an applicant tracking system.
-
An understanding of the confidentiality, consistency, and judgment required in HR work.
-
Strong service and communication skills, with the ability to keep candidates, hiring managers, and employees informed and supported.
-
Ability to organize work independently, anticipate next steps, follow through, and raise questions or concerns when guidance is needed.
-
Strong working skills with shared documents, spreadsheets, calendars, and team communication tools, and the ability to learn new HR and recruiting technology.
Preferred
-
Familiarity with UKG Ready, Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, Jira, Asana, or AI-supported recruiting tools.
-
Experience supporting onboarding, performance reviews, employee engagement, or other HR programs.
-
Experience in education, education technology, or an organization where teams and processes have evolved through growth or change.
