Job Summary:

University Human Resources is seeking a short-term HR Workday Project Manager. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month position. This position is expected to last approximately 6 months.

The HR Workday Project Manager provides project leadership for Human Resources Workday initiatives at Oregon State University. This position manages planning, coordination, implementation, testing, communication, and stabilization activities for Workday projects and enhancements that support HR operations, compliance, data integrity, service delivery, and a positive employee experience. The role serves as a liaison among University Human Resources, IT, Finance, Payroll, academic and administrative units, Workday functional teams, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with university priorities.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Lead and manage assigned HR Workday projects, enhancements, and initiatives from planning through implementation and post go-live stabilization
  • Partner with HR units to translate business needs into project requirements, process improvements, and system changes
  • Collect feedback, monitor adoption and stabilization needs, identify opportunities for continuous improvement, and prioritize clear project updates to HR leadership and university partners

Qualifications:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, human resources, public administration, information systems, organizational development, or a related field.
  • Three years of professional experience managing projects, programs, or business process improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating cross-functional teams, tracking deliverables, facilitating meetings, managing timelines, and communicating project status to stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze business needs, document requirements, identify risks and issues, and support implementation of process or system changes.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex information clearly to varied audiences.
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing responsive service, maintaining confidentiality, supporting compliance, and contributing to an inclusive and respectful workplace.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Experience managing Workday, HRIS, ERP, or enterprise system implementation or enhancement projects.
  • Experience working in human resources in higher education, public sector, or a complex decentralized organization.
  • Knowledge of HR business processes such as position management, recruiting, onboarding, compensation, time tracking, absence management, employee relations, payroll, or reporting.
  • Experience with project management tools, change management practices, business process documentation, user acceptance testing, training coordination, or stakeholder readiness activities.
  • Project management certification or formal training, such as PMP, CAPM, Agile, Lean, Six Sigma, or Prosci change management.
  • Experience supporting data integrity, reporting, security, compliance, or governance activities in an HR technology environment.
  • Higher Education experience.
  • Labor relations experience in the public sector.

Working Conditions/Schedule:

The work assigned to this position will be located onsite with an opportunity for a hybrid schedule that allows some flexibility to work remotely. Work may be performed during standard working hours, Monday through Friday, but may occasionally require evenings or weekends.

Salary Range:

$100,000 - $108,000
