Salary Range: $79,200.00 To $126,500.00 Annually
Location: Hybrid - Kingston or York Mills
Please note the base salary will be determined by the successful candidate's education, skills and experience. The listed salary range serves as a general pay guideline for this position's pay level.

The total target compensation (TTC) range, including salary and target bonus, is $79,200-126,500. This TTC range is applicable to permanent roles only. The actual base salary offered within this range will be determined by the successful candidate’s skills and experience, as well as internal equity.
Empire Life is looking to hire a Human Resources Generalist to join our Talent Management team! We are actively seeking candidates to fill a current open position.
The Human Resources Generalist serves as a trusted partner to leaders and employees, providing HR guidance, supporting people initiatives, and contributing to the successful delivery of talent programs and organizational objectives. Working closely with HR Business Partners and Centres of Excellence, this role helps enhance the employee experience and supports a broad range of people management activities.
The position offers exposure to multiple areas of Human Resources, including employee relations, talent management, compensation, organizational development, and business partnering, while working alongside experienced HR professionals and business leaders.
In addition, the Human Resources Generalist provides operational support for employee lifecycle activities, including promotions, terminations, and new hires, and collaborates with teams across Compensation, Shared Services, Talent Acquisition, and Organizational Development to ensure the accurate and efficient administration of HR programs and employee changes.
This position provides broad exposure to HR disciplines and opportunities for career progression within the Human Resources team.

What you’ll be working on
- Provides consultation, guidance, and coaching to line managers on employee inquiries, while effectively leveraging HR frameworks, processes, and policies to support people management activities in alignment with direction from Human Resources Business Partners
- Effectively leverages all HR frameworks, processes and policies to support people management activities as directed by the human resources business partners
- Partners across multiple HR disciplines including employee relations, compensation, talent management, and organizational development to support business objectives.
- Supports employee relations matters by providing guidance, facilitating issue resolution, and partnering with HR Business Partners on complex cases.
- Monitors and reviews legislation and updates human resources policies and procedures as required
- Liaises with shared services on employee changes, ensuring correct processes are followed
- Responds in a timely fashion to business inquiries and employee and manager questions as triaged by Shared Services or the HRBPs.
- Meets with new hires and supports employee onboarding and offboarding processes including exit interviews
- Supports training and talent programs through coordination of content and organization of events
- Creates and updates tools, templates, letters, and forms to ensure accuracy and effectiveness
- Analyzes data, conducts research and develops reports using multiple systems and sources
- Supports employee-related matters ie. promotions, transfers, salary adjustments and separations by preparing documentation and coordinating with internal stakeholders
- Support the HRBP in salary benchmarking, compensation analysis, and pay equity reviews.
- Supports the performance management cycle
- Maintains knowledge of applicable employment legislation and HR compliance requirements.
- Develops relationships with business client groups and HR team members, provides training and guidance to junior team members, including students and new graduates, and contributes to projects as needed.

- 3 years of HR experience with employee relations experience, preferably in a similar type role
- Undergraduate degree in Business, Commerce with a focus in Human Resources Management preferred
- CHRP designation completed or in progress is considered an asset.
- Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset
- Knowledge and expertise in HR policies and procedures
- Understanding of best practices and current regulations specific to HR
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Excellent coordination and communication skills
- Excellent research and analytical skills
- Proficiency in software and systems including Microsoft, excel and HR information systems
- Strong desire to learn and develop new skills
- Financial services experience is an asset
