In this key new position, you will be responsible for the origination of energy trading transactions in the local Power, Gas & Environmental Commodities markets, as well as supporting origination and market entry activities in other European geographies.
How will I spend my time in this role?
Origination
Originate bespoke energy trading services agreement with large industrials, generators, energy retailers and other third-party participants in the local energy markets.
Generate leads for linear and non-linear transactions with wholesale counterparties and asset operators in the local markets, including IPPS, BESS operators, Pipeline Operators, Gas Storage Operators, Gas Producers etc.
Maintain a network of contacts in the industry and cultivate a pipeline of potential transactions of each type.
Strategy / Product Development
Keep abreast of market participants, regulatory changes and trends in the local markets and use this to formulate and develop new origination strategies. Support commodity desks who develop products to deepen product offering, making available risk management tools that best serve our customers’ needs and ultimately offers value.
Stakeholder Management
Work closely with colleagues in risk, regulation and legal on new bespoke transactions. Report to senior management meetings as required on commercial performance and portfolio risks.
Supporting the Group
Provide support to the company with expertise, knowledge and skills to ensure group and company objectives are met. Fostering a collaborative environment amongst the team and wider group.
What skills/experience do I need to be successful?
· Extensive experience of wholesale energy markets and trading gained through a front office position at a utility, energy trading house, bank or similar institution.
· Extensive client network in the local power and gas markets.
· Track record of successfully originating energy products (e.g. market access agreements, power purchase agreements, optimisation agreements, tolling agreements and options).
· Extensive and current knowledge of the local and European markets.
· Extensive knowledge of structured products (e.g. structured trading, vanilla options, swing options, Asian options, fixed for floating swaps and contracts for difference).
· An appreciation of the operational, financial, compliance and risk management requirements needed to support structured transactions in the energy market.
