IBMi (AS/400) RPG Developer - Job Description

• Develop, enhance, and maintain business applications on the IBMi (AS/400) platform using RPG IV, RPGLE (Free Format), CL/CLLE, and SQLRPGLE.
• Design, code, test, debug, and deploy high-quality applications using ILE RPG, Embedded SQL, and DB2 for i.
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions for enterprise applications.
• Develop and maintain DB2 for i database objects, stored procedures, queries, and performance-optimized SQL programs.
• Support application modernization initiatives by integrating IBM i applications with REST APIs, Web Services, and external systems.
• Perform application enhancements, bug fixes, root cause analysis, and production support for mission-critical systems.
• Create and maintain batch jobs, CL programs, job schedulers, reports, and data interfaces.
• Participate in code reviews, unit testing, integration testing, and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with business analysts, QA teams, project managers, and stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, design specifications, deployment procedures, and support documentation.
• Troubleshoot application performance issues and optimize RPG programs, SQL queries, and DB2 database access.
• Experience with modern IBM i development tools such as RDi, VS Code for IBM i, Git, and knowledge of API integration and application modernization is highly preferred.

Preferred Skills:

• 7 to 8 years of IBMi (AS/400) development experience.
• Strong expertise in RPG IV, RPGLE (Free Format), CL/CLLE, SQLRPGLE, Embedded SQL, and DB2 for i.
• Experience with IBM i application modernization, REST APIs, Web Services, Git, and Agile development methodologies.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
