About the role
You will be a hands-on SAP ABAP developer within the MDG Systems team, designing, building and supporting scalable technical solutions across SAP MDG, ECC and S/4HANA. The role combines core ABAP engineering, integration and production support with the opportunity to develop deeper SAP MDG technical expertise.

Key responsibilities
- Design, develop, enhance and support SAP ABAP solutions across SAP MDG, ECC and S/4HANA environments.
- Deliver RICEFW developments, including reports, interfaces, conversions, enhancements, forms and workflow-related technical solutions.
- Develop using ABAP Objects, classes, function modules, BAPIs, RFCs, BAdIs, enhancement frameworks and user exits, following reusable and upgrade-safe development principles.
- Perform ABAP debugging, root-cause analysis, code reviews and performance optimisation, using tools such as ST05, SAT and ST12 where appropriate.
- Design and support high-volume and mass-data processing solutions, including background processing, package/commit handling, logging, error management and restartability.
- Develop and troubleshoot SAP interfaces and integrations, including IDocs, APIs, RFCs and SAP MDG Data Replication Framework (DRF).
- Support SAP MDG technical developments, including validations, derivations, workflows, BRF+, change requests and other custom enhancements.
- Work closely with functional and business teams throughout technical design, development, unit testing, SIT, UAT, deployment, cutover and production support.
Qualifications and skills
Essential
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on SAP ABAP development experience in an SAP ECC and/or S/4HANA environment.
- Solid experience developing and enhancing ABAP reports, interfaces, conversions and enhancement implementations.
- Practical knowledge of ABAP Objects, Open SQL, internal tables, modularisation, function modules, BAPIs and RFCs.
- Experience using BAdIs, enhancement spots, user exits or other SAP enhancement techniques.
- Strong ABAP debugging and root-cause analysis skills, including the ability to distinguish code, data, configuration, authorisation and integration issues.
- Working knowledge of IDoc processing, status analysis and troubleshooting.
- Understanding of performance-efficient ABAP design, database access and high-volume data processing.
- Ability to read functional specifications and translate them into clear, robust technical designs.
- Experience participating in testing, transport management, deployment and production support.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and business teams.
Desirable
- Hands-on SAP MDG development or technical support experience.
- Knowledge of MDG change requests, workflow, BRF+, validations, derivations, data models, staging/active areas and activation processes.
- Experience with MDG Data Replication Framework (DRF) or master data distribution to downstream systems.
- Understanding of Business Partner, Vendor/Supplier, Customer, Material or Finance master data.
- Exposure to S/4HANA development practices, CDS views, AMDP, OData services, APIs or SAP Fiori-related backend development.
- Experience with application logging, background-job design, restartable processing and technical reconciliation for mass updates.
- Experience working in a global support or project-delivery environment.
