Temporary 06-month position
As a Quebec Bar student intern in Immigration Law at Desjardins Group, you will support immigration lawyers and consultants in managing various immigration applications for employees and candidates throughout the recruitment process. You will gain hands-on experience in Canadian immigration law at both the provincial and federal levels and contribute to legal monitoring activities. You will also interact with various stakeholders and provide support to managers and employees on immigration-related matters. More specifically, you will be required to :
- Manage the full immigration process under the supervision of the supervising lawyer.
- Work directly with managers and employees to gather the documents and information required for immigration applications.
- Prepare and submit official documents and forms to government authorities for the issuance or renewal of work permits.
- Ensure compliance of immigration files and monitor the status of employees holding work permits.
- Provide support to managers and employees in addressing immigration-related challenges before hiring and throughout employment.
- Assist with responses to government audits by compiling required information and providing necessary documentation within established deadlines.
- Conduct legal research in immigration law to address complex issues and inquiries.
What you bring to the table
- Bachelor's degree in Law
- Successful completion of Modules 1 and 2 of the École du Barreau du Québec to be eligible for the internship.
- The internship must qualify as an official Quebec Bar articling internship for the purposes of admission to the Quebec Bar Roll (Tableau de l’Ordre).
