Description Job Summary and Department Description The Immigration Department is responsible for processing immigration petitions and resolving any issues. The team ensure all immigration requirements are current for each applicant and maintains databases containing all immigration information for Avant Healthcare Professionals (HCPs). The Immigration Specialist IV is responsible for processing immigration petitions for Avant candidates in an efficient and effective manner, while proactively troubleshooting any issues. This role ensures that databases are accurately maintained and that all immigration requirements are current for each applicant, while sustaining timelines and fluid communication with Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) and all Avant Departments. The Immigration Specialist is expected to exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance, including interpreting and applying immigration laws and regulations, developing policies, and advising management on strategic immigration matters. Essential Functions of the Job • Work independently and with minimal supervision to process visa petitions in compliance with the U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS) • Use independent judgment to ensure that filings and HCPs will be in compliance with all applicable immigration laws and regulations. • Manage and oversee the preparation and filing of all immigration-related applications and petitions (e.g., H-1B, L-1, PERM, I-140, I-485). • Coordinate with employees and external legal counsel to gather necessary documentation and information for filings • Interpret and apply immigration law and provide expert and highly skilled guidance to employees on immigration-related issues and strategies. • Develop and implement immigration policies and procedures to support the company's strategic objectives. • Act as the primary point of contact for employees and management regarding immigration matters. • Consult with government agencies and external legal counsel as necessary. • Remain current with changes in immigration laws and policies through continuous education and update the company’s procedures accordingly. • Use discretion and independent judgment to review and evaluate information included on all petitions for the applicable statuses for adjudication before submission • Use independent judgment to resolve issues and concerns such as documentation needs, immigration status requests, and procedural issues • Communicate with other departments and HCPs regarding candidate processing, timelines, and any other relevant updates, as needed Marginal Functions of the Job • Other duties as assigned Normal Work Schedule This is a full-time position. Standard business hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Additional time outside of these hours may be needed to complete the essential functions of the job. Education, Training, and Experience • Associate’s degree required, Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal qualification preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience • Minimum of 3 years of related experience in immigration processing • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential documentations and the ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks • Ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) and collaborate with all levels of management • Basic MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) Job Level Competencies • Technical Skills: Intermediate ability to perform technical skills required for job role. This may include the use of specific technology, knowledge of job-specific tasks and concepts, etc. Intermediate ability to determine methods and procedures on new assignments. Advanced ability to handle routine tasks as well as non-routine tasks. Advanced ability to handle tasks with a high level of complexity with minimal guidance. • Communicates Effectively: Advanced ability to provide clear and concisely written, verbal and nonverbal communication. Intermediate ability to apply an understanding of customer needs and team dynamics. Intermediate ability to gather and escalate customer feedback and insights. • Decision Making: Advanced ability to evaluate existing solutions and alternatives to obtain the most optimal results through both routine and non-routine problem-solving decisions. Advanced ability to assess risks and benefits of newly proposed solutions for routine or non-routine scenarios within the team. Advanced ability to identify when to seek input from others. • Innovation: Advanced ability in the development of ideas to establish new or improve existing business processes and increase productivity. Advanced ability to handle problems of a diverse scope within area of specialization where the analysis of data requires careful evaluation. Required Licenses, Certifications, and Other Specific Requirements of Law • Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) certification and ability to obtain and maintain Other Characteristics of the Position Physical Demands: • Stationary desk work for extended periods at a time • Regularly required to communicate • Occasional lifting of office supplies up to 20 lbs. • Vision abilities including close vision and ability to adjust focus Work Environment: • This job operates in a professional office environment. • This role routinely operates standard office equipment. Statement of Responsibility for Confidential Data • Has access to, and requires daily use of, confidential records. • Required by federal law to maintain strict confidentiality of “Avant” employee information and maintain security of such information. • Proprietary Information and Non-Conflict Agreement required. Smoking/vaping and the use of tobacco products are prohibited on all Company premises, including indoor and outdoor areas, parking lots, and Company-owned vehicles.
