Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Product Manager to join our Product Management & Experience (PMX) organization, responsible for the ESG and Sustainability product portfolio within the Benchmark Gensuite SaaS platform.

The role will translate product strategy, customer needs, market trends, and evolving sustainability reporting requirements into scalable product capabilities. Working closely with Engineering, Design, Sustainability SMEs, Implementation, Solutions Advisory, and Subscriber Success, the Product Manager will lead initiatives from discovery and definition through development, validation, release, and adoption.

Key Responsibilities

1. ESG and Sustainability Product Ownership

• Own the end-to-end product lifecycle, including discovery, roadmap planning, development, release, and continuous improvement.

• Serve as the PMX subject-matter lead for assigned applications and maintain prioritized roadmaps and backlogs.

• Translate product strategy into requirements, delivery plans, milestones, and measurable outcomes.

• Lead Priority Development Initiatives (PDIs) and monitor adoption, usability, customer value, data quality, and operational efficiency.

2. Sustainability Reporting and Domain Leadership

• Translate ESG and sustainability requirements into product specifications, user stories, workflows, calculations, business rules, and acceptance criteria.

• Apply working knowledge of frameworks such as GRI, ISSB, CSRD/ESRS, SASB, TCFD, CDP, and BRSR.

• Support accurate, traceable, consistent, and auditable sustainability data collection, calculations, disclosures, and reporting.

• Monitor regulatory changes, market trends, customer expectations, and competitor offerings to identify product opportunities.

3. Customer Discovery and Product Definition

• Engage customers and internal stakeholders to understand sustainability challenges, workflows, and reporting requirements.

• Convert customer insights into scalable product capabilities and define user personas, journeys, business scenarios, and outcomes.

• Partner with Design and Engineering to deliver intuitive user experiences and clearly communicate customer problems, solutions, and success measures.

4. Cross-Functional Delivery

• Collaborate with Engineering, Design, Implementation, Solutions Advisory, Subscriber Success, and other product teams.

• Lead sprint planning, requirements development, workflow and mockup reviews, backlog refinement, and milestone tracking.

• Resolve delivery risks, dependencies, and scope decisions while ensuring alignment and accountability across teams.

5. Product Quality and Release Readiness

• Lead functionality reviews and end-user QA to ensure delivered capabilities meet requirements and customer expectations.

• Validate ESG calculations, reporting outputs, data lineage, permissions, and workflows, ensuring accuracy, consistency, traceability, and auditability.

• Maintain product specifications, release documentation, knowledge content, and supporting materials.

• Coordinate product communications, demonstrations, release readiness, enablement, and post-release feedback.

6. AI-Enabled and Configurable Product Development

• Apply AI-first and configurable-by-default principles throughout product development.

• Identify responsible AI opportunities to simplify sustainability data collection, analysis, validation, and reporting.

• Collaborate with technical teams to validate AI capabilities, considering data quality, transparency, security, and human oversight.

• Use approved AI tools to improve research, requirements, documentation, testing, and communications while promoting reusable, configurable solutions.

  
  
  

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Technology, Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related discipline.

• Postgraduate qualifications or certifications in sustainability, ESG, product management, or a related field are an advantage.

  
  
  

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in product management, product ownership, business analysis, sustainability technology, or a related role within an enterprise SaaS environment.

• Experience in sustainability reporting, ESG data management, EHS/ESG software, sustainability consulting, or corporate sustainability programs.

• Working knowledge of ESG reporting concepts, including materiality, emissions, environmental and social metrics, governance disclosures, data controls, and assurance readiness.

• Familiarity with sustainability frameworks such as GRI, ISSB, CSRD/ESRS, SASB, TCFD, CDP, or BRSR.

• Ability to translate complex sustainability, regulatory, reporting, and customer requirements into clear specifications and intuitive SaaS workflows.

• Proven ability to independently lead complex product initiatives from definition through release.

• Experience managing backlogs, developing roadmaps, writing user stories and acceptance criteria, and working in Agile environments.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, facilitation, and presentation skills, with attention to data accuracy and product quality.

• Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, cross-functional environment.
