Job Description SCTS is seeking an independent non-executive member to join its Audit and Risk Committee, bringing substantial senior-level experience of cyber security and organisational resilience. We are looking for someone who has held strategic responsibility for cyber security, cyber risk, information security or digital resilience within a large or complex organisation. SCTS provides support to the judiciary and to courts, tribunals and the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) to enable the efficient and effective operation of the justice system. SCTS is currently pursuing a range of reforms intended to improve the operation of Scotland’s justice system and the service provided to all those who use it – further information on our work can be found in our Corporate Plan 2026-29 and on our website. The Audit & Risk Committee (ARC) supports the Board in its responsibilities in relation to issues of risk, control and governance by reviewing and challenging the comprehensiveness, reliability and integrity of assurances provided to them by the SCTS Accountable Officer (the Chief Executive). Role Criteria Applicants should have experience of working at a senior level in a public sector, commercial or voluntary organisation and be able to demonstrate the ability to contribute effectively to the work of the Audit and Risk Committee of a large public sector organisation. The vacancy requires experience of working in audit, risk or assurance and involvement in transformational delivery or change. Experience of digital/cyber security is essential . A professional accountancy qualification from one of the UK’s Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies (CCAB) or equivalent is desirable. Appointment is for a fixed-term period of four years, renewable once, for a further period of up to four years, by mutual consent. You will be expected to attend four meetings of the Committee per year, which are generally held in Edinburgh. Additional meetings may be required from time to time.
