STV is seeking an Industry Engagement Strategist to lead the firm’s approach to conferences, sponsorships, memberships, speaking opportunities and strategic industry relationships. This position is designated as hybrid (3 days week/in office) and will be based in our New York, NY office.

As part of STV’s Communications team, this role will work closely with business leaders, Sales, Marketing and Business Development to ensure STV’s industry engagements support business priorities, strengthen the firm’s reputation and create meaningful opportunities for visibility, relationships and growth.

The strategist will serve as the firmwide point of coordination for STV’s priority industry engagement portfolio, bringing greater focus, consistency and accountability to how opportunities are selected, funded, planned, executed and evaluated. The ideal candidate combines strategic judgment with hands-on program management and can move comfortably between advising leaders, managing association relationships, establishing practical processes and delivering detailed event and sponsorship execution.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy and planning

  • Develop and manage a firmwide industry engagement strategy aligned with STV’s business, brand and reputation priorities.
  • Partner with business leaders, Sales, Marketing and Business Development to establish annual priorities, participation plans and clear business objectives for priority organizations and events.
  • Evaluate conferences, sponsorships, memberships and partnership opportunities, and recommend where STV should invest, expand or redirect involvement.
  • Apply strategic rigor into the firm’s industry engagement strategy by identifying a defined purpose, target relationships, appropriate participants and expected outcomes for engagements.

Speaking opportunities and executive visibility

  • Manage a centralized process for identifying and tracking calls for speakers, panels and presentations.
  • Proactively review priority conference agendas and association opportunities to identify STV speakers, committee participation and visibility opportunities.
  • Match opportunities with STV executives and subject matter experts and coordinate abstracts, submissions, approvals and deadlines.
  • Partner with Communications colleagues to prepare speakers and extend opportunities through thought leadership, media, social and other channels.
  • Identify relevant committees, boards and industry leadership roles that advance executive visibility, market positioning and strategic relationships.

Conferences, sponsorships and experiential marketing

  • Lead end-to-end planning and coordination for priority conferences, sponsorships and association partnerships, including objectives, participants, timelines, responsibilities, budgets and follow-up.
  • Manage sponsorship benefits and brand deliverables, including exhibits, booth assets, signage, advertisements, registrations, attendee lists, hospitality, promotional items and related materials.
  • Translate sponsorship packages into practical activation plans that use available benefits intentionally rather than treating participation as a logistics exercise.
  • Establish lead-time expectations and a clear intake process for event, exhibit, promotional and special-material requests; manage late-breaking requests and trade-offs directly.
  • Coordinate pre-event planning with business participants to identify priority clients, partners, pursuits and relationship goals, and facilitate post-event debriefs to capture results and next actions.

Memberships and association relationships

  • Manage memberships connected to STV’s priority industry engagement portfolio, including renewals, membership structures, authorized participants, account contacts, key dates, available benefits and current organizational records.
  • Serve as STV’s primary point of contact for designated industry organizations across memberships, sponsorships, exhibits, speaking opportunities and related engagement.
  • Maintain continuity when internal contacts change by documenting association contacts, membership identifiers, participation rules and other core account information.
  • Help employees and business leaders leverage relevant training, publications, networking, committee, leadership and membership benefits.

Budgets, inventory and financial accountability

  • Track approved budgets, sponsorship commitments, invoices and deliverables.
  • Maintain visibility into promotional inventory used for conferences and sponsorships; establish thresholds for standard inventory, special requests and large-volume orders.

Measurement and continuous improvement

  • Develop practical measures of value tied to stated objectives, including relationships advanced, teaming or pursuit activity, leadership visibility, speaking placements, benefit utilization and documented follow-up.
  • Create a consistent pre-event and post-event reporting approach that assigns business participants responsibility for documenting outcomes and next steps.
  • Compare expected outcomes, actual results and total investment to inform future recommendations.
  • Build institutional knowledge about which organizations, events and activation approaches produce strategic value and which should be reduced or eliminated.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, business, public relations, event management or a related field.
  • Five or more years of experience in communications, marketing, industry relations, business development, experiential marketing, strategic events, association management or a related discipline.
  • Experience managing conferences, exhibits, sponsorships, memberships, external partnerships, speaking programs and complex event deliverables.
  • Demonstrated ability to build repeatable processes, manage budgets and vendors, coordinate across functions and deliver under firm deadlines.
  • Strong strategic thinking, business judgment, project management and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to influence leaders, challenge low-value requests constructively and clarify ownership in a complex organization.
  • Experience in the architecture, engineering and construction industry or another professional services environment preferred.
  • Ability to travel for selected conferences, meetings and events as needed.

Success in This Role

Success will be measured by stronger alignment between industry engagement and STV’s business and reputation priorities; more disciplined investment decisions; reliable management of priority memberships and association relationships; earlier, more coordinated planning; clear funding ownership; stronger use of sponsorship and membership benefits; increased visibility for STV leaders and subject matter experts; documented business follow-through; and clearer evidence of which industry investments create value.
